Revised edition with supplement in red cloth covers that show light cover edgewear, small spots on rear panel, thumb smudging at textblock edges. Gilt spine lettering remains bright; no DJ. Wang, with other occasional instances of pencil underlining elsewhere. Top edges foxed, with light foxing found internally. Hinges sound, uncracked. 726 pages, with seals in red. A mammoth undertaking in which a "finger-print camera" provided the authors with the means of reproducing approximately 9, 000 seals of various Chinese painters and collectors of the Ming and Ch'ing periods, along with a supplement of new seals and information. The first edition was published in 1940; this edition (1966) limited to 1,500 copies. Preface by James Cahill. A sound, sturdy volume despite its stated defects.
