Wrappers. Plus two typewritten letters of Nilita Vientos Gaston (Dir) to the artist Romualdo Brughetti. Nilita Vientós Gaston (June 5, 1903 - July 10, 1989) was a Puerto Rican writer, educator, journalist, and teacher, as well as being the first female lawyer who worked for the Department of Justice of Puerto Rico. He entered the University of Puerto Rico where he studied law, and obtained his degree. In 1945, while he was a student, he founded and directed the magazine Asomante. He was awarded a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, studying literature at Kenyon College, Canton, Ohio. In Puerto Rico there is a hill called El Asomante, which gave its name to a literature magazine in the same country, published between 1945 and 1970. As the hill, and as any periodical publication, Asomante meant a possibility of differentiation, a land virgin in which to dispute a space, a chair at a dinner, a comment in a conversation. Since 2012, and in the same sense, a collection of books of literary criticism under the same name began to be published in the Institute of Hispanic American Literature of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires. The gesture - which looks like an echo, but reads like a tribute - also has the objective of the hill and the magazine whose name as an active participant takes care of an attitude that is as provocative as it is inevitable: to peek and spy, show and Be spied on.
