Text is clean and… free of marks. Binding tight and solid. "Gian Antonio Volpi, born at Padua in 1686, studied in his native town and became a good Latin and Greek scholar. In 1717 he and his brother Gaetano Volpi established a printing press in their house for the purpose of bring out correct editions of classic authors, and they engaged for their assistant the printer Giuseppi Comino. This press - known by the name Volpi-Cominiana, produced among others a valuable edition of Catullus with copious notes. The edition was much commended by scholars, and the city of Verona struck a gold medal, which was presented to Volpi" e-180; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.

Schöner als mancher Pressendruck, allseitig unbeschnitten mit sehr breiten Rändern, sowie mit Schmuckinitialen und Vignetten versehen. Oben auf jeder Seite mittig gesetzt der mehrzeilige Text der Liebeselegien, darunter etwas kompresser in zwei Spalten der Kommentar dazu. Stellenweise etwas gebräunt und fleckig. Das Motto in der schön gestochenen Druckermarke ist ein Horaz-Zitat und lautet: "Quidquid Sub Terra Est, In Apricum Proferet Aetas." (Alles, was unter der Erde ist, wird die Zeit ans Sonnenlicht bringen.) Mit dem handschriftlichen Verweis auf zwei gelehrte, eigentlich naturwissenschaftlich interessierte Adelige, "Di Luigi, e Giulio Conventati, / olim/" aus Macerata bei Ancona. Auf dem vorderen Innendeckel handschriftlich "Amici", auf dem Rücken ebenfalls handschriftlich der Titel des abgeplatzten Rückenschildes ergänzt, sowie eine Bibliotheksnummer. Es läßt sich daraus schließen, daß zumindest dieser Titel nach dem Ableben der beiden Grafen an Freunde weitergegeben wurde und anschließend einer der Bibliotheken der Universitätsstadt einverleibt wurde.
