Zu den herausgebenden Gruppen gehörten die Proletarische Front (Bremen u. Hamburg), der Revolutionäre Kampf (Frankfurt a. M.), Arbeiterkampf aus Köln, Arbeitersache aus München u. die Gruppe >Rote Fahne< aus Saarbrücken. Die Gruppen arbeiteten mit der berühmten italienischen Gruppa Lotta continua zusammen und hatten sich von ihr und ähnlichen italienischen Gruppen inspirieren lassen. Sie setzen auf die Spontanäität der Arbeiter und kämpferische Impulse, die von der Basis/ der proletarischen Klasse selbst ausgingen und die Arbeit in Betriebszellen anstelle einer parteisozialistischen Organisation und Programmatik. Sie waren maßgeblich an der Streikwelle des Jahres 1973 beteiligt, in dem zugleich die Mehrzahl der hier versammelten Ausgaben der Zeitung erschienen, die regelmäßig über diese Kämpfe berichtete. - Zu den wahrscheinlich bekanntesten u. zugleich ihren politischen Ursprüngen abspenstigsten Ex-Mitgliedern des Revolutionären Kampfes gehören Joschka Fischer u. Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Durch die politische Intervention in den Betrieben sollte das praktische Eingreifen mit einem Erkennen des tatsächlichen Bewußtseins der Arbeiter(klasse) verbunden werden.
