About this Item: U.S.A.: HarperCollins, 2002. Soft cover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Thus begins the adventure of Candy Quackenbush of Chickentown, USA. Clive Barker's epic series--and epic series of paintings--kicked off with ABARAT, the first volume of this amazing saga for young readers (and those of us who are older but still believe in wonder and magic). This is an advance reading copy, distributed to booksellers and reviewers ahead of the first edition publication, making this the true first appearance of the book. It's a softcover, with no dust jacket, as issued. This copy is in remarkably good condition, unread, opened only for Clive to SIGN the title page in his distinctive hand. The artwork reproduced here is in black and white, not color like the final publication. Along with the ARC, we're offering some special items rarely seen elsewhere. First, Clive's MAP OF ABARAT is laid in, inside its own decorated envelope. Also laid in are two preview booklets, one with publication details and with some of the full-color paintings contained in the book, the other reproducing Chapter 13 of the book. Finally, also included is a postcard inviting the booksellers to an art exhibit opening and launch party held 10 days before the book would be available for sale in bookstores. Most Barker collectors have never seen all these items together, making this a true gem for the serious Barker fan. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 151822
