Isabelle Collin Dufresne (1935-2014) became Ultra Violet in 1964, after being renamed by art icon Andy Warhol. Rebelling from her rigid, upper class family in France, Dufresne moved to New York City in the early 1950's and began following the city's most famous artists, including surrealist Salvadore Dali who introduced her to Warhol in 1963. From 1964 until 1969, Dufresne was known as Warhol's primary muse, as he used her as inspiration for his earliest pop art designs. The fame she garnered with Warhol earned her several acting roles throughout the 60's and 70's, including I, a Man(1967), Cleopatra (1970) and Savages (1972). In her time she has perused with the likes of John Lennon, Marcel Duchamp, Howard Hughes and even President Richard Nixon. She recounts her years in Warhol's limelight in her 1988 memoir Famous for 15 Minutes: My Years with Andy Warhol. Signed by Author.
