Item Description: Brian Hansen Publications, Moorabbin, Victoria, 2002. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. The History of the Carlton Football Club from 1864. Numerous b&w and photographs & illustrations throughout, including many fascinating vintage shots. Pictorial endpapers. Foreword by John D. Elliott, President Carlton F.C. The rear facts & figures section was compiled with the assistance of AFL research historian Col Hutchinson. From rear panel of dustjacket: "The Blues Boys traces the history of the Carlton Football Club from the origins of Victorian settlement through the foundation year in 1864 to the launch of the third millennium. Established in 1864, the Carlton Football Club is one of the oldest football clubs in the world and with 23 premierships, the Carlton Football Club has a proud history. The Blue Boys is a thorough record of this magnificent history. This publication recognises every player who has worn the famous Dark Navy Blue Carlton guernsey, those responsible for the memorable on-field feats that have brought this tremendous success to the Carlton Football Club. To complete the Carlton history it includes details of the administrators and decision-makers who have guided the Club for over 137 years. This fine publication, painstakingly researched and compiled, will be treasured by the many thousands of Carlton supporters and indeed by football followers with a keen sense of the game's history". Bound in original navy blue cloth with bright silver lettering & design, with gold metal corner pieces, in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket. PLEASE NOTE: unfortunately this volume has been DAMAGED - the previous owner has torn out the entire first seven leaves (14 pages total). The removed pages follow the ffep/foreword, & appear to be the title page, copyright page, introduction, & part of the contents list (only the lower portion at the inner margin remains). All additional pages are fine & intact: the rest of contents list at start, plus the full year-by-year account of the club, from 1864 to 2002, and rear section appendices, are all complete & intact. The main body of the book, with all information, is fine. Price reflects damage. Apart from the removed seven pages & slight handling wear, overall a very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. 751pp. Very heavy large volume (over 3.5kg), extra shipping may be required. Uncommon title. SB-9. Size: 32.5 x 24cm. Bookseller Inventory # 005510
