Celeste et Noah, deux jeunes Britanniques, se rencontrent lors d'un rendez-vous arrangé et tombent amoureux. Très vite, ils se rendent compte qu'ils sont sous surveillance. Alors qu'ils se filment et diffusent sur YouTube des vidéos politiques pour révéler les mensonges du gouvernement, la paranoïa et l'angoisse s'invitent dans leur quotidien et gangrènent peu à peu leur vie. N'arrivant plus à faire confiance à personne, ils s'isolent, jusqu'à une fin tragique. La pièce se présente sous la forme d'une reconstruction post mortem, l'autrice Lucy Kirkwood (ou plutôt, un personnage nommé Lucy Kirkwood) étant présente sur scène pour montrer au public des vidéos diffusées sur internet après leur mort, prouvant qu'ils étaient filmés depuis le début de leur relation - et que la paranoïa est parfois justifiée. Questionnant la vérité, la manipulation et la peur, Ravissement s'écrit sous le signe du doute et de la remise en cause. Comme le dit Céleste : " Ce n'est pas réel, mais c'est vrai. " Selon les voeux de l'autrice, la pièce doit être annoncée sous un faux titre et un faux nom pour toute production sur scène (au Royal Court : That is not who I am de Dave Davidson). D'emblée, la dissimulation et le mensonge sont donc au coeur du projet.
