About this Item: McGraw Hill Education, 2012. Softcover. Condition: New. First edition. This compendium, recounting NTPC`s CSR activities, can be seen as a collage of 21st century India. It is about the public sector giant`s firm commitment to the nation. Providing scholarships for needy students, setting up Rehabilitation Centres to help the physically challenged , improving infrastructure in remote schools, organizing sports competitions for the rural children, arranging potable water in parched areas, teaching vocational skills, providing healthcare, preserving heritage, lending a helping hand during natural calamities-NTPC has been involved in multifarious activities. Making a Difference comprises the stories of courage and hope, of limitless striving and boundless enthusiasm, of common people and uncommon feats, of the young and not-so-young, of the rich and the poor, of villagers and townspeople. Pigeons of the dome: Stories on Communalism is a collection of short stories depicting the various hues and shades of the demon of communalism that lurks within Indian society. A word that crops up repeatedly in the stories included here is fasaad in Urdu and danga in Hindi; translated as ‘riot’ in English, it has an entirely and peculiarly Indian connotation. When used in India, a riot is more often than not a clash between two communities and is a word loaded with communal intent unlike the original English usage whereby the word, free of any sociological baggage, merely refers to unruly or disorderly conduct by a group of people. About this Item: D.K. Printworld (P) Ltd., 2015. Hardcover. Condition: New. First edition. India and Indonesia experienced close historical and civilizational relations from the ancient times to sixteenth century ce. During the Indonesian freedom struggle, its leaders were inspired by the anti-colonial views of Indian leaders. India firmly stood for the freedom of Indonesia from the Dutch. During the post-colonial period, the bilateral relations underwent ups and downs. India?s Look East Policy of the 1990s made a phenomenal leap in both the countries? relationship. India by leveraging its soft power, stable foreign policy, non-interference policy established trust among many South-East Asian countries and in particular Indonesia. Indonesia, being the largest country in the region, has been proved as one of the greatest allies of India. After a decade of stable governance under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indonesia now has a fairly strong democratic set-up. The country made the transition after thirty-one years of dictatorship of Soeharto, under the leadership of B.J. Habibie, Abdurrhaman Wahid and Megawati Soekarnoputri. Now, when both the countries are poised to fly high after having witnessed considerable economic reforms, they need to forge stronger ties in order to further expand bilateral trade and strategic relations, being the main focus of this volume.Preface Abbreviations Message ? About this Item: D.K. Printworld (P) Ltd., 2015. Hardcover. Condition: New. First edition. India and Indonesia experienced close historical and civilizational relations from the ancient times to sixteenth century ce. During the Indonesian freedom struggle, its leaders were inspired by the anti-colonial views of Indian leaders. India firmly stood for the freedom of Indonesia from the Dutch. During the post-colonial period, the bilateral relations underwent ups and downs. India’s Look East Policy of the 1990s made a phenomenal leap in both the countries’ relationship. Now, when both the countries are poised to fly high after having witnessed considerable economic reforms, they need to forge stronger ties in order to further expand bilateral trade and strategic relations, being the main focus of this volume. Seller Inventory # 8376

Despite serious development efforts put forward by the state and the civil society, Dalits still remain socially excluded from the benefits that accrue to many communities. The social and economic disparities in the society have deteriorated over these years. Dalits are chronically excluded from economic, cultural and political benefits. The ambit explains that the dearth of opportunities plaguing the socially excluded communities is in its worst possible from the social institution of caste. According to the Indian census (2011) Dalits constitutes 16% of total population, yet their socio-economic and political status sets apart from the other upper castes and backward classes. Dalits fall victim of the social institution of caste, where our society failed to keep all the social groups and communities within the reach of what we expect as a society and realize the full potential of each and every individual. Government reservations for Dalits access to education, job and political participation have helped the Dalits to increase the number of attending school and colleges, but they do little to achieve the much need social inclusion of these most marginalized groups in India. Dalits are passive victims of caste discrimination and oppression that is taking place in many parts of our country in different forms and magnitude. In this social and cultural background, this book covers the themes such as Dalit and education, Dalit and empowerment, health status of Dalits, Dalit and social system, Dalit and human right, development programme and Dalit, future of Dalit women and dignified life of Dalit.
