About this Item: Appleton and Company, New York, 1904. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. A.B. Frost; E.W. Kemble (illustrator). 1st Edition. The Tar Baby & Other Rhymes of Uncle Remus by Joel Chandler Harris Very good to good plus condition. September 1904 printing, D. Appleton and Company. Binding tight. Illustrated in color and sepia drawings throughout by A.B. Frost and E.W. Kemble. Nine plates intact. No writing/markings with following exceptions; Flat signed Joel Chandler Harris on title page beneath lined out author's name, signed again by author on front end page "With the highest admiration and Esteem of Joel Chandler Harris at the " (two words I can't make out, perhaps high____ Wren's Nest," 9 March 1905". Wren's Nest was Harris' beloved and well known home. Attached to the same page is a three page handwritten note signed by Julia C. Harris addressed to Mr. Albee asking that he accept this volume as a souvenir of their acquaintance. Also slipped into the book are several pieces of what appear to be advertisements that may be part of the original book jacket. The book itself is 191 pages and as noted illustrated throughout. The boards are orange with gilt illustration and script. The cover must have gotten damp at some point as the cloth to the front cover is rippled or bubbled a bit, additionally their is fading/sunning and some spotting. The first several pages show what appears to be a faint damp mark to the front edge. International shipping is not offered for this book and the book is being offered as is without return it is being listed as a favor for the benefit of the local Circle of Friends of the local library. Report of the Commission on the Renovation of the Executive Mansion details the rebuilding of the White House during the Truman administration. Includes photos of the demolition and reconstruction and several high-quality color images of the finished rooms.
