About this Item: Small Stations Press, United States, 2014. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.XosE MarIa DIaz Castro (1914-1990) is considered one of the greatest exponents of twentieth-century Galician poetry, alongside such names as Alvaro Cunqueiro, Celso Emilio Ferreiro and Aquilino Iglesia AlvariNo. He published only one book during his lifetime, Halos. A short book, it comprises thirty-two poems divided into seven sections and containing one of the most emblematic of all Galician poems, Penelope. The book embraces such themes as the writing of poetry, the poet s love for Galicia and his philosophical concerns, including his religious faith. Many of the poems were written in hendecasyllables and alexandrines and this translation by John Rutherford has set out to reproduce the metre as well as the meaning with remarkable success. The deep-seated concerns of this man, a translator and schoolteacher as well as a poet, are brought into English for the first time. Other titles in the series Galician Classics include: Galician Songs by RosalIa de Castro, Long Night of Stone by Celso Emilio Ferreiro, Folks From Here and There by Alvaro Cunqueiro and Collected Poems by Lois Pereiro. About this Item: Ed. Xerais, 2007. soft. Condition: New. García Teijeiro establece un diálogo creativo cos poetas da nosa tradición (Martín Códax, Eduardo Pondal, Rosalía de Castro, Manuel Curros Enríquez, Celso Emilio Ferreiro, Luís Pimentel, Manuel Antonio, Luís Amado Carballo, Ramón Cabanillas, Álvaro Cunqueiro, Uxío Novoneyra, Xosé L. Méndez Ferrín, Lorenzo Varela, Xosé Mª Álvarez Blázquez, Aquilino Iglesia Alvariño, María Mariño, Xohana Torres, Bernardino Graña, Luz Pozo Garza. . . ), do que nace unha voz propia, distinta. *** Nota: EL COSTE DE ENVÍO A CANARIAS ES 9.99 EUROS. About this Item: East End Press, United States, 2013. Hardback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book. Dramatic history, lush scenery, and a colorful cast transport us to the time of Cuba s turning point - the late 1950s Set against the tropical landscape of Cuba s countryside and the glamour of 1950s Havana, this moving story of Cuban life at a pivotal time in the country s rich history will resonate with anyone who has experienced the loss of family or homeland. It is 1958, the last year of Fulgencio Batista s dictatorship. Mike, the son of Don Miguel, a wealthy land owner and rancher, is summoned home from his MBA studies in the United States because of his father s failing health. Still recovering from the loss of his wife, Mike s return is an immediate tonic for Don Miguel. Caught between his family obligations and his desire to pursue his own dreams, Mike quickly finds himself succumbing to his father s desire for him to take over the responsibilities of running the family ranch. As Mike settles back into the life he was groomed for, Don Miguel, reinvigorated, spends more and more time socializing in Havana. Changes are happening everywhere. The government is encroaching on civil liberties and social and political upheaval is in the air. There are rumblings about Castro s guerillas organizing in the mountains. On the ranch, long-time employees of Don Miguel resent the changes that Mike is making, setting the stage for a confrontation that change the lives of everyone involved. With evocative language, vibrant characters, and explosive history My Lost Cuba pull us into fascinating time and place-. It is a memorable family saga, love story and political tale. About this Item: Faktoría K de Libros. Condition: New. About this Item: Ed. Xerais, 2004. Condition: New. *** Nota: EL COSTE DE ENVÍO A CANARIAS ES 9.99 EUROS. About this Item: Ediciones Destino, 2015. soft. Condition: New. *** Nota: EL COSTE DE ENVÍO A CANARIAS ES 9.99 EUROS. About this Item: Ediciones Destino, 2017. soft. Condition: New. *** Nota: EL COSTE DE ENVÍO A CANARIAS ES 9.99 EUROS.
