Maps. Bibliography. Index. The present work entitled "the Wonders of Sultanate India" an attempt has been made to light the medieval India - Historical and factual tracing of description, regarding founder and rulers of Sultanate period of India. It is a fact of immense significance that whereas in the tracing medieval India's Delhi Sultanate period history, the conquest of Islam played the role of a powerful effective but mostly external factor in the East the expansion of Islam went for more than a millennium became so intimate that as a result, we find an Indo-Islamic pattern of society and culture. We have an entire literature which deals with the "birth of Sultanate India" in the early medieval period. It is observed as a wonder that the Islamic invaders minority in number defeated the majority of the people, i.e. Hindus rulers, established and ruled over them for more than approximately one thousand years. the present volume is the first of a projected series of slave (Mamluk), Khalji, Tughlaq, Sayyads and Lodhi dynasties apart from frontier of India and expansion of Islam, Religious mission of Islamic invaders, and Indigenous sources of Delhi sultanate, emergence of Delhi Sultanate. It is compiled the events of ghazanavids, critical evaluation of Early Turkish empire of Delhi, the complete study of Delhi sultanate India is described in 32 (thirty two) topics, apart from Introduction and summing up. Indeed, this volume in dealt beginning from the Muhammad - bin - Qasim, founder and ruler and their achievements and contribution to make the Delhi Sultanate of Medieval India in two parts (Part I and Part II). The rulers of Delhi Sultanate period acted, established and introduced various factors and practices, which are described critically and evaluated with their achievements. The present volume is an elaborate, innovative and in lucid manner, certainly it fascinates the general readers, students and history - lovers. (jacket). Seller Inventory # 121676

About this Item: John C. Nimmo Ltd, London, 1903. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. Illustrated by Adrien Marcel, (Frank T. Merrill), Poiteau, Mercier,Bicknell. (illustrator). 1st Thus. 12 Vols in TOTAL - ALL UNIFORM hardback books in blue cloth with bright gilt borderd compartments with gilt fleur-de-lys decoration and gilt titling to the spine. Some light wear to the extremities only. All hinges secure and tight. 'The Wandering Jew' is COMPLETE in six volumes and 'The Mysteries of Paris' is also COMPLETE in six volumes. The set is Ex-REFERENCE Library, with fewer library indications, and ALL books have a (removable) Library Label on each front pastedown. (I have removed these labels from this library before, using a proprietory label remover, and removed the oval mauve stamps too with care and a good eraser - but it's all very time consuming! ). Each etching has a small circular /oval (circa 1.5 cms x 2 cms) mauve library stamp on the reverse of the print, a similar small stamp on the reverse of the T/P, and at the end of the book. In some of the volumes a larger rectangular 'Discarded from Stock' stamp appears on an endpaper/half title or on the Library label. Also traces of what was likely old white numbers at the foot of the spines of the 6 volunmes containing 'The Wandering Jew' ONLY. The 6 'Mysteries.' are clean and unmarked. These traces have been 'blued over' and the set looks good on the shelf, but it is still obvious that something has been 'restored'/coloured on that bottom segment of those 6 volumes. As far as I can see the set is free of any other Library marks. Generaly Very Clean Tight and Bright. SEE IMAGES. The Wandering Jew has 28 coloured 'etchings' in total: - Volume 1 = 5 illus - 1 by Poiteau, 3 by Adrian Marcel, 1 by Mercier. Volume 2 = 5 illus - 1 by Poiteau, 3 by Adrian Marcel, 1 by Mercier. Volume 3 = 5 illus - 1 by Poiteau , 4 by Adrian Marcel. Volume 4 = 5 illus - 2 by Poiteau, 2 by Adrian Marcel, 1 by Mercier. Volume 5 = 4 illus - 2 by Poiteau, 2 by Adrian Marcel. Volume 6 = 4 illus - 1 by Mercier, 2 by Poiteau , 1 by Adrian Marcel. The Mysteries of Paris has 31 coloured 'etchings' in total: - Volume 1 = 7 illus - 1 Frontispiece Portrait of Eugene Sue by Bicknell, 2 by Adrian Marcel (after the drawings by Frank T. Merrill) , 1 by Adrian Marcel, 3 by Mercier (after the drawings by Frank T. Merrill) , . Volume 2 = 4 illus - 2 by Poiteau, 1 by Adrian Marcel, 1 by Adrian Marcel (after the drawing by Frank T. Merrill). Volume 3 = 6 illus - 2 by Mercier, 4 by Adrian Marcel. Volume 4 = 4 illus - 1 by Adrian Marcel, 1 by Adrian Marcel (after the drawing by Frank T. Merrill) , 2 by Mercier. Volume 5 = 5 illus - 1 by Poiteau, 3 by Adrian Marcel, 1 by Poiteau (states Porteau - but this is a misprint! ). Volume 6 = 5 illus - 3 by Mercier, 1 by Poiteau, 1 by Adrian Marcel. SEE IMAGES. The set is going to be very heavy to post, and will require extra postage - the price will depend on where in the world you are. Please ask for a shipping quote. ; Ex-Reference Library; 8vo.
