Item Description: Good News Publishers, United States, 2013. Pamphlet. Book Condition: New. 135 x 89 mm. Language: English . Brand New Book. Will I See You at the Top? I have always been a hard-working, optimistic, enthusiastic, highly-motivated individual. Growing up I learned to play it straight, keep my word, and follow through. And for some reason, I always wanted to come out on top. Working for Success My mother taught me the value of work. When my dad died he left Mama with 12 children. Six of us were too young to work, but Mama expected us to do what we could to help. From the fifth grade until I graduated from high school, I worked at the Piggly Wiggly every afternoon after school and every Saturday. During those years, the men I worked for treated me like a son while teaching me how to sell, run an honest business, and enjoy life even in hard times. After high school graduation and a hitch in the Navy, I married Jean Abernathy--the Redhead and love of my life. Not long after, I dropped out of college to take a job selling cookware. Unfortunately, the next 25 years were characterized by ups and downs, mainly due to my habit of taking better sales opportunities. I moved my growing family near and far to suit my latest sure thing sales career. My dream of speaking full-time was born in 1950, and my opportunities to give motivational talks and teach sales courses increased over the years. Going Nowhere Fast But at age 45, due to several serious business setbacks, I was broke, in debt, and my career as a speaker was going nowhere. Despite my remarkable lack of success, I was still confident--to the point of arrogance--in what I was capable of doing. Yet nothing I had done qualified me to be that optimistic! In 1972, while speaking at a small sales convention, everyone kept telling me about their top sales lady, Ann Anderson. When I met her she started talking about Sister Jessie, an elderly black lady that Ann said she owed most of her success to. Out of curiosity, after the convention the Redhead and I drove with Ann to meet this remarkable lady. Some things she said struck me profoundly, and we invited her and Ann to spend the upcoming July 4th weekend with us at our home. Sister Jessie arrived talking about Jesus Christ, and for nearly three days that is all she talked about. She made a very convincing and persuasive case! Needing a Life Makeover Like most people, I had always felt that I could build a ladder of good works and climb my way up to heaven. Sister Jessie showed us from the Bible that wasn t possible. For the first time ever I understood that Christ is not A way to heaven; he is THE way. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Our self-efforts are futile: the Bible says that None is righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:10). God had to come down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ to seek out sinners like me and give them eternal life. The sinless Christ took on our sins when he died on the cross, so we could be freed from the condemnation our sins deserve. Now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13). Jesus himself promised, Whoever hears my word and believes him [God] who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life (John 5:24). Religion is spelled do. Christianity is spelled done. When Christ arose from the grave, it was proof that the price for our sins had been paid in full. The way you come to know Jesus is to admit that you are a sinner, and trust completely in him to give you forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and a new start. That s how you secure your eternity at the top --in heaven. As Jesus said about those who believe in him, I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand (John 10:28). That confirmation gives me incredible peace of mind. Giving Proper Credit After that weekend with Sister Jessie, the change in my life was total, dramatic, and overwhelming. Perhaps the most s. Item Description: 2009. PaperBack. Book Condition: New. 271 Child Health Nursing is written with this challenge in mind. It views maternal-newborn and child health care not as two separate disciplines but as a continuum of knowledge. It is based on a philosophy of nursing care that respects clients as individuals yet views them as part of families and society. The book is designed for undergraduate student use for a combined course in maternal-newborn and child health, or for a curriculum in which these courses are taught separately but integrated. It views maternal-newborn and child health care not as two separate disciplines but as a continuum of knowledge. Book Condition: New. 138 ABOUT THE BOOK:- The book presents the diabolical picture of a wonder called "Hindu Mind' on which no social scientist or historian had the courage to write. The 'Hindu Mind' has converted India into a bloody battlefield in the past thousands of years, and made it the workts largest intellectual desert-but cunningly covered all this under a thick cloud of 'India Shining' mesmerism. Being India's most original thinker and scholar not one of his prophecies has gone wrong. As the Editor of the 30-year-old revolutionary English journal. Debt Voice, he led Indian delegations to China, Japan. Libya. Iran. Pakistan. Visited US and UK. To curb his popularity overseas, his passport was impounded for 20 long years. arrested many times, lobbed in jail-plus a total media blackout clamped to see that he does not expose the 'Hindu Mind'. Item Description: CROSSWAY BOOKS, United Kingdom, 2007. Pamphlet. Book Condition: New. 135 x 89 mm. Language: English . Brand New Book. Discipline seems like a hard word, but discipline is your lifeline, something that you learn to embrace and thank God for as you grow in him. The apostle Paul links the idea of discipline with spiritual life: Train yourself for godliness --referring to a spiritual workout--for godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come (1 Timothy 4:7-8). A Christian woman s life is about bringing her will and every area of her life under submission to God s will. 1. Discipline of the Gospel: The Source of Godliness Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3). To be a godly woman you must know what this gospel is, believe it, and make it the center of your life. Never lose the wonder of the gospel. John 3:16 is not only a beautiful summary of what God has done, it ought to be the true center of our living--defining, motivating, and satisfying us. The gospel is a woman s first and most important discipline, for it is the source of godliness. 2. Discipline of Submission: The Posture of Godliness It saddens me that submission has been eliminated from our cultural vocabulary. Bringing our lives into submission to God s will in everything is the key to being a godly woman (Philippians 2:8-11). It is also the path to joy. Submission applies to every area of our lives, and we begin by restoring the gospel to its rightful place at the center of our thoughts and deeds everyday. It s an ongoing, daily choosing of God s ways over our own ways (James 4:7-10; Hebrews 12:9). Is the will of God more important than our lives (Luke 9:24)? 3. Discipline of Prayer: Submission s Lifeline Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication (Ephesians 6:18). Prayer is the source of power for growth and perseverance in our spiritual lives. It bends our wills to God s, which is what submitting our lives is all about. Prayer cannot be reduced to a few simple rules, and though we sometimes talk about meditation, confession, adoration, submission, and petition, there is no prescribed order. But continual prayer is God s will for us. we must always be looking up, even when driving to work or cleaning the house. 4. Discipline of Worship: Submission s Celebration Worship encompasses all of life: Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship (Romans 12:1). Because Christ is the ultimate revelation of God (Colossians 1:15-20), he must be the central focus of our worship as understood through Scripture (1 Timothy 4:13). Worship --whether by oneself at home, in the workplace, classroom, or with the church gathered--is consecration. Every woman who calls herself a Christian must understand that worship is the ultimate priority of her life. every day. 5. Discipline of Mind: Submission s Education No computer will ever be able to think God s thoughts or know the heart of God or do his works. But it s what the brain was created for--to have the mind of Christ. What a scandal that so many Christians don t think Christianly! In one comprehensive sentence, Paul prescribes his personal mental program: Whatever is true. honorable. just. pure. lovely. commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things (Philippians 4:8). If you are filled with God s Word, your life can then be informed and directed by God--your relationships at home, parenting, career, ethical decisions, and internal moral life. 6. Discipline of Contentment: Submission s Rest Paul wrote from prison that he had learned in whatever situation I am to be content (Philippians 4:11). Fortunately for us, he said that he had learned. . there is hope for all of us who face the monster of discontent! Applying our knowledge of God to our circumstances is the key to contentment. It will be ours when all that God is and all that he has done in Christ fills our heart. We may lack. Bookseller Inventory # AA79781682160015

Item Description: CROSSWAY BOOKS, United Kingdom, 2007. Pamphlet. Book Condition: New. 137 x 91 mm. Language: English . Brand New Book. Men, we will never get anywhere in life without discipline, and doubly so in spiritual matters. None of us is inherently righteous, so Paul s instructions regarding spiritual discipline in 1 Timothy 4:7-8 take on personal urgency: Train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. That word train comes from the Greek word from which we derive gymnasium. So, I invite you into God s Gym--to some pain and great gain! Discipline of Purity Sensuality is the biggest obstacle to godliness among Christian men. The fall of King David should not only instruct us but scare the sensuality right out of us! Fill yourself with God s Word--memorize passages like 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8, Job 31:1, Proverbs 6:27, Ephesians 5:3-7, and 2 Timothy 2:22. Find someone who will help you keep your soul faithful to God. A pure mind is impossible if you mindlessly watch TV and movies or visit pornographic web sites (1 Thessalonians 4:3-7). Develop the divine awareness that sustained Joseph: How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God? (Genesis 39:9). Discipline of Relationships To be all God wants you to be, put some holy sweat into your relationships! If you re married, you need to live out Ephesians 5:25-31: Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (v. 25). For those who are fathers, God provides a workout in one pungent sentence: Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Relationships are not optional (Hebrews 10:25); they enable us to develop into what God wants us to be and most effectively learn and live God s truth. Discipline of Mind The potential of possessing the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) introduces the scandal of today s church--Christians who do not think Christianly, leaving our minds undisciplined. The Apostle Paul understood this well: . .whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things (Philippians 4:8). Each ingredient is a matter of personal choice. You can never have a Christian mind without reading the Scriptures regularly because you cannot be influenced by that which you do not know. Discipline of Devotion Reading God s Word is essential, but meditation internalizes the Word and responds, I desire to do your will, O my God (Psalm 40:8). Beyond instructions like Ephesians 6:18-20, there are two great reasons to pray. The more we expose our lives to the white-hot sun of Christ s righteous life, the more his image will be burned into our character. The second reason is that prayer bends our wills to God s will. Many men never have an effective devotional life because they never plan for it; they never expose their lives to his pure light. Discipline of Integrity We can hardly overstate the importance of integrity to a generation of believers so much like the world in ethical conduct. But integrity s benefits--character, a clear conscience, deep intimacy with God--argue its importance. We must let God s Word draw our lines of conduct. Our speech and actions must be intentionally true (Proverbs 12:22; Ephesians 4:15), backed by the courage to keep our word and stand up for our convictions (Psalm 15:4). An old saying sums it up: Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny. (1) Discipline of Tongue If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person s religion is worthless (James 1:26). The true test of a man s spirituality is not his ability to speak, but rather his ability to bridle his tongue! Offered to God on the altar, the tongue has awesome power for good. There must.
