Pal s first, acclaimed collection, pappaji wrote poetry in a language i cannot read, was an exploration, a search not only for a place in the world, but for a sense of one s self. Pulse is a collection of love poems, about the sharing of stories and the sharing of that discovered self. Pal writes about those moments in our lives that we first cling to, then draw from as we strive for fabric and texture in our lives. With echoes of Michael Ondaatje, Pal s magical, ringing voice sings intimate. These are sensual poems, explorations of the pulse in fingertips, and Pulse, the book, is a mature, sophisticated collection of poetry from one of Canada s truest writers. About this Item: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. Paperback. Condition: New. This item is printed on demand. 124 pages. Dimensions: 9.0in. x 6.0in. x 0.3in.The various Civil War era firearms produced under the patents of Edward Lindner encompass some of the rarest of American breech loading arms. These include muzzle loading rifles and carbines converted to his breech loader design as well as altered Hall Patent rifles and new made carbines. There has been a scarcity of correct information about their history and use. This book provides collectors and arms historians with a more complete and correct historical record of the manufacture and issue to combat troops of both new made carbines as well as conversions of obsolete rifles and carbines to Lindners breech loading system. Using countries included not only the U. S. but also Argentina, Brazil and France. The book consists of 116 pages, 45 black and white illustrations and full color covers. . . . cast(s) far more light on Lindners production than has ever been published before. . . this study will prove to be an indispensable reference and, therefore, it is highly recommended. Herbert G. Houze, book review in MAN-AT-ARMS MAGAZINE; August, 2014. Ed Hull is a meticulous researcher with an amazing ability to ferret out long-forgotten documentation. His new work on the Lindner Carbines provides new and important information on these extremely scarce breech-loaders of the American Civil War. Joe Poyer, author of THE AMERICAN KRAG RIFLE AND CARBINE and THE . 45-70 SPRINGFIELD. . . . a valuable reference for students and collectorsof American military shoulder arms, especially those who focus on the percussion breech loading arms used during the Civil War. George D. Moller, author of the multi-volume AMERICAN MILITARY SHOULDER ARMS. . . . of great interest to the U. S. Military arms collector as well as those interested in the Civil War and the arms used to fight it. Frank Graves, book review in ARMS HERITAGE MAGAZINE; June, 2014. This item ships from La Vergne,TN. About this Item: McPherson Co Publishers,U.S., United States, 1991. Hardback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book. G.V. Desani broke his silence forty years after the appearance of his classic novel, All About H. Hatterr, with this volume of twenty-three stories and one long prose poem, only the second full-length book of his fiction ever to be published. Many of the stories appeared first in literary anthologies and magazines over the past thirty years, including The Noble Savage (edited by Saul Bellow), Illustrated Weekly of India, Transatlantic Review, and Boston University Journal. The stories are mostly written in the humorous mode of his novel, relying upon comic timing and his keen sense of the incongruities in contemporary life. They often captivate in the same way as Indres Shah s Sufi learning tales, and the titles alone convey a sense of the interpenetration of India s cultures: Suta Abandoned, Mephisto s Daughter, The Second Mrs. Was Wed in a Nightmare, Gypsy Jim Brazil to Kumari Kinshino, Country Life, Country Folk, Cobras, Thok, . .Since Nation Must Export, Smithers, The Lama Arupa. Whether send-ups of colonialism or lampoons of conventionality, there is a seriousness to Desani s comedy that crosses cultural boundaries and racial identification. The long prose-poem, Hali, was originally issued in 1950, adapted for the stage in London, broadcast several times over BBC radio, and then, after being pirated three times, was suppressed by the author for twenty years until this publication. Hali is a complementary opposite to All About H. Hatterr: it is the writer s vision of cosmic creation and human destiny, marrying Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic and other Indian religious traditions into a cathartic drama. E.M. Forster said of it: Private mythologies are dangerous devices. You have succeeded wonderfully. It keeps evoking heights above the summit of normal achievement where the highest aspirations reach. The Times Literary Supplement termed it haunting, and The Librarian declared it as near a work of genius as one can judge. This is the definitive fourth edition, and also the first authorized U.S. publication of this work. Seller Inventory # AAO9780929701127
