About this Item: 2016. Hardcover. Condition: New. 409 ABOUT THE BOOK:- Rural development became a planning concern as it became clear that the strategies adopted in developing countries remained largely ineffective in alleviating poverty and inequalities in rural areas. Development of rural areas and the rural people has become the primary concern of the economic planning and development process of the country. It became increasingly clear that apart from an effort to increase agricultural and industrial production, it is also necessary to address directly the basic problems of rural area. The increasing interest in rural development is a result of the realization that a systematic effort is necessary to create better living conditions in the rural areas where the vast majority of populations of developing countries reside.Creation of more effective employment opportunities and exploring new avenues for their engagement in economically gainful activities will go a long way in ameliorating rural India. No doubt, formulation and implementation of various rural development schemes/ programmes have touched many a milestone, yet a lot remain still to be done. This edited book examines the basic issues, problems, policies, programmes and prospects of rural development in India. It is clear that rural development, in its all dimensions, is sine qua non for a strong and vibrating nation like India which aspires for becoming a super power in the world. About this Item: Discovery Publishing House Pvt. Ltd., 2010. Hardcover. Condition: New. It is very clear that in India Women are performing a lion`s share in the growth and development of the nation. If a larger part remains untouched in education, Health and socio-economic development, the development of the nation cannot be turned in a progressive manner. A Society can be taken as an ideal society if we acknowledge the Strength of women in the light of development. If a large chunk remains untouchable, the economic development will be in a regressive manner. In a welfare slate like India one can undoubtedly say that Education played a vital role in the present juncture of development in India. In the era of Globalisation the women are still in the last benches in education, health and socio-economic stages. Nearly 35 per cent of women are literate in India. They contribute half in Population and also have their l/3rd share in the revenue of the country. But they are only 1 per cent owner in the entire Property of the country. Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindra Nath Tagore and other eminent Leaders in India are expressed their view for women education. In spite of this and after six decades of independence we are still in stagnant in education. A Mother who is the first Teacher of the Child and who manages the home is now not regarded in the Progress of the state. In the light of this, the women education is very secret in the success of every respect of the country. So this book has taken an attempt in collecting various articles from the eminent writers which will throw a good light to the darken side. This book will no doubt be helpful to all the categories of the people, organisations and Government as a whole. Contents, 1. The India international centre's annual mid year review of the Indian economy is strategically timed to permit analysis of trends in the current fiscal year before budget preparations for the next year get underway. This year's review comes at a time when both the Indian and the world economic scenario look distinctly more upbeat than a year ago. The Indian economy is among the few large economies witnessing reasonable growth. As the review shows the GDP after recording a growth of 4.3 per cent in 2002 03 grew at 5.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2003 04. The manufacturing component of GDP grew at 6.4 per cent and the services component at 7.4 per cent. With uniform and good rainfall and with agriculture and services being the major drivers of growth the GDP is expected to grow at 7.13 per cent in 2003 04. Although it is clear that economic recovery is underway the important questions are how durable the recovery is likely to be and what policy action can be taken in order to increase its longevity. The analysis presented in this review suggests that the recovery reflects primarily domestic rather than international factors although the international financial environment may have been crucial in facilitating economic reactivation. 152 pp. Seller Inventory # 50900

About this Item: Concept Publishing Company (P) Ltd., 2004. Hardcover. Condition: New. The work Accounting Education in South Asia is based on findings of a major research project funded by the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research, New Delhi. It is an exploration of distinctive features, social systems, economies, educational systems and arrangement for accounting education under university system and also by institutions of professional accountants in South Asia. Countries of South Asia share a common heritage, culture and geography. This region has been cradle of many great civilizations. It falls among high population density, low per capita income and consumption and low literacy regions of the world. Inter-country trade, migration of people, flow of information, goods and services, and investment are at low level among these countries. However, in spite of adverse political atmosphere and poor infrastructure base, these countries are in transition, gradually moving from agriculture to industry and services. India among these countries is comparatively more developed. The book brings to light a variety of interesting facts regarding the role of universities and institutes of professional accountants, their activities and membership. Charting the trend of changes in social and economic set-up, job opportunities and job requirements, impact of globalization and information technology, etc., detailed suggestions have been made for quality improvement and inter-institution and inter-country cooperation. There are numerous studies on the application of location allocation procedures for solving the problems of space partitioning and allocating new location for infra structural facilities and obnoxious locations like nodal points of road networking market as well as social facilities of an area location of commercial and economic enterprises and locational provisions of distribution of new agricultural technology search the multi criteria decentralized solid waste management facilities and so on. The problems of locational decision in spatial planning have been recognized in three ways (a) the minimisation of Euclidean distance between facility location and users home on a plane (b) the optimization of multi facility locations and hierarchies which tried to solve by applying integer programming formulations and (c) the network optimization problems which have been attempted to solve by considering inter connected nodes representing transport and communication systems and their dynamic aspects. Optimization of space has now become the main theme of operational researches. The similar problems are cropping up in the newly organised spatial activities in the countries of growing economies where clusters of new activities that are recently emerging nodes and reorientation of local economies in its global perspective are major issues to solve. Present proceedings of the conference include the articles on these aspects and would be immense use f. Seller Inventory # 60076

About this Item: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform, United States, 2014. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. An entrepreneur offers a vision for a new wave of American economic success. A unique, original and timely recommendation for the economic future of the United States in the 21st century, offering well-researched and well thought-out proposals sure to spark discussion! Mr. Sharma is an intellectual business leader. Drawing on history, economic theory and his own experience as an immigrant, an employee and an entrepreneur, Sharma (Global Outsourcing, 2005) lays out a road map for American prosperity based on innovation and a high-tech infrastructure that allows the best and brightest to both collaborate and compete. The book begins with an overview of what the author defines as the two previous American dreams: one in an agricultural economy based on family farms in the 19th century, and the other in a broad base of homeowners subsidized by government policy in the 20th century. Sharma s vision for the 21st century and beyond relies on a governmental policy that provides a structure for federally backed startup funding-a structure, he says, more effective than venture capitalists focused on quick profits and one that will become self-sustaining as successful businesses share equity rather than repay interest. That startup funding would be supported by a network of national and regional hubs for education and innovation, guided by the understanding that manufacturing as well as the service industry are necessary for a stable economy. The book goes into detail as to how the education, health and energy sectors would develop under this plan. It is clear that Sharma has thought through the details of his fundamental reorganization of the economy, as the book offers not only big-picture theoretical explanations for his advice, but also itemized discussions of how his proposed structures, such as a Cabinet-level innovation department and an integrated system of in-person and remote education, should be set up, funded and operated. The book successfully handles a very broad and integrated topic in a very clear and distilled way. It is almost breathtaking in its scope, vision and sheer audacity. Although the book is at times overly enthusiastic about American uniquenesses - In any other country, if one played well and lost the game it is still applauded, but not in the United States ; We forget that Americans, by nature, are the most competitive people on this planet - Sharma does point out that he reached this conclusion after years of international experience. After all, While the world is copying the past, America is innovating for future. Sharma s call to the policy makers to be predictive to stay relevant to the present is very timely in the age of big data analytics. It is time for everyone to understand what needs to be done to create a futuristic business and life ecosystem that unleash the potential of each and every human being on this planet. USA has a distinct advantage to show a practical roadmap for that! This is the revised 2nd Edition of the book that has already received very positive endorsements over last one year. The world has literally become a battleground involving scientists politicians policy makers journalists industry representatives farmers and consumers with a polarization of society into proponents and opponents of biotechnology. Genetically modified foods are being labelled Frankenstein foods with accusations that the technique challenges the role of God the sanctity of nature the ownership of life forms etc. However it is equally true that the achievements of the green revolution are proving insufficient for feeding India's teeming millions. Biotechnological interventions can play a vital role by not only increasing crop productivity but also taking care of the increasing threat of biotic and abiotic stresses on crop plants. This book is based on four workshops (Stakeholders dialogue on agricultural biotechnology biosafety and economic implications) on genetically modified plants organized by Teri. It outlines the relevance of plant biotechnology to Indian agriculture and the im. Seller Inventory # 60009

Past few years have witnessed a host of changes in the economic policies of the countries the world over and have led to the establishment of a new world order. It is widely accepted now that to bring about economic transformation any country requires the device of industrialization for which entrepreneurship vehicle is a pivotal factor. It has now been established that entrepreneurship can be cultivated contrary to the earlier belief that entrepreneurs are born and can never be made. Therefore there is an ardent need to encourage entrepreneurship in the country. This is only possible when the right kind of climate is created through favourable policy measure and provision of training and guidance to individuals with entrepreneurial aptitude. The present book is a collection of some of the papers presented during a 2 day National Seminar (Sponsored by AICTE) on Thirty first Aug. First Sept. 98. The Seminar aimed at creating an awareness about the need for entrepreneurial development in a developing country like India and its impact on the economic development of a nation. The book has papers presented by several eminent scholars and intellectuals who have done extensive research in the field of entrepreneurship. The articles have been slightly edited to suit the needs of the book and extensive care has been taken to see that the essence of the article has remained the same. 212 pp. Seller Inventory # 67468

About this Item: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform, United States, 2014. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.An entrepreneur offers a vision for a new wave of American economic success.
