About this Item: 2016. Hardcover. Condition: New. 409 ABOUT THE BOOK:- Rural development became a planning concern as it became clear that the strategies adopted in developing countries remained largely ineffective in alleviating poverty and inequalities in rural areas. Development of rural areas and the rural people has become the primary concern of the economic planning and development process of the country. It became increasingly clear that apart from an effort to increase agricultural and industrial production, it is also necessary to address directly the basic problems of rural area. The increasing interest in rural development is a result of the realization that a systematic effort is necessary to create better living conditions in the rural areas where the vast majority of populations of developing countries reside.Creation of more effective employment opportunities and exploring new avenues for their engagement in economically gainful activities will go a long way in ameliorating rural India. No doubt, formulation and implementation of various rural development schemes/ programmes have touched many a milestone, yet a lot remain still to be done. This edited book examines the basic issues, problems, policies, programmes and prospects of rural development in India. It is clear that rural development, in its all dimensions, is sine qua non for a strong and vibrating nation like India which aspires for becoming a super power in the world. About this Item: Concept Publishing Company (P) Ltd., 2004. Hardcover. Condition: New. The work Accounting Education in South Asia is based on findings of a major research project funded by the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research, New Delhi. It is an exploration of distinctive features, social systems, economies, educational systems and arrangement for accounting education under university system and also by institutions of professional accountants in South Asia. Countries of South Asia share a common heritage, culture and geography. This region has been cradle of many great civilizations. It falls among high population density, low per capita income and consumption and low literacy regions of the world. Inter-country trade, migration of people, flow of information, goods and services, and investment are at low level among these countries. However, in spite of adverse political atmosphere and poor infrastructure base, these countries are in transition, gradually moving from agriculture to industry and services. India among these countries is comparatively more developed. About this Item: Discovery Publishing House Pvt. Ltd., 2010. Hardcover. Condition: New. It is very clear that in India Women are performing a lion`s share in the growth and development of the nation. If a larger part remains untouched in education, Health and socio-economic development, the development of the nation cannot be turned in a progressive manner. A Society can be taken as an ideal society if we acknowledge the Strength of women in the light of development. If a large chunk remains untouchable, the economic development will be in a regressive manner. In a welfare slate like India one can undoubtedly say that Education played a vital role in the present juncture of development in India. In the era of Globalisation the women are still in the last benches in education, health and socio-economic stages. Nearly 35 per cent of women are literate in India. They contribute half in Population and also have their l/3rd share in the revenue of the country. But they are only 1 per cent owner in the entire Property of the country. Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindra Nath Tagore and other eminent Leaders in India are expressed their view for women education. In spite of this and after six decades of independence we are still in stagnant in education. A Mother who is the first Teacher of the Child and who manages the home is now not regarded in the Progress of the state. In the light of this, the women education is very secret in the success of every respect of the country. So this book has taken an attempt in collecting various articles from the eminent writers which will throw a good light to the darken side. This book will no doubt be helpful to all the categories of the people, organisations and Government as a whole. Contents, 1. About this Item: Academic Foundation, 2004. Hardcover. Condition: New. Biotechnology along with the other core Technology viz. information technology, is at the heart of technology Revolution in Asia. Asian Countries have adopted strategies for harnessing the potential of Biotechnology for their Industrial development. The areas of applications both in pharmaceutical and Agriculture sector have widened, finding new vistas of economic growth. Policy challenges, however, are arising among others, concerning trade in GMOs, impact of Genetic Engineering on Environment and human health, biosafety management, and Ethical aspects that are yet to be addressed at any collective forum in Asia. One of the missing links is a dialogue between Natural and social scientists so as to identify socio-economic requirements and Policy priorities in the realm of biotechnology and development in the region. This book brings together perceptions on some of these issues by eminent experts from the Asian region. As a sequel to the pioneering Biotechnology Revolution and the Third World: Challenges and Policy Options (RIS 1988), this volume draws lessons from the Experiences of Asian developing countries and revisits some of the concerns raised earlier. The contributors to the volume draw policy lessons from Country experiences in capability building in Asia, in particular on the role of regional cooperation. It is clear that the Asian countries need not only Technical assistance for capacity building, but also Financial support to upgrade their facilities to meet challenges emerging from the introduction of new organisms. As most of the Asian Economies Face common challenges including the management of Biodiversity resources, cooperative efforts may prove fruitful. An examination of regional cooperation in Europe and ASEAN may help in identifying a roadmap. Volume editors present a Synthesis of key lessons emanating from different contributions.
