About this Item: J.B. Lippincott, New York, 1987. Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 3rd Revised Edition.. 364 pp, 8 11/16" H. B&w illustrations. "(A)n account of the development of children's books in the United States, Britain, Canada, and Australia, (this book) has long been acclaimed as an invaluable guide and resource for parents, teachers, and students alike. The third revised edition faithfully maintains all the strengths of the earlier editions - concise, informative coverage of a vast subject - and includes a totally rewritten Part Four that provides a fresh, detailed investigation of aspects of the modern world most relevant to books for children and young people during the years 1945-1985. The result is an extremely readable and stimulating survey of imaginative writing (including poetry and picure books) accompanied by a superb bibliography of works on children's literature and dozens of illustrations from many of the books mentioned in the text. (The author) offers an enthusiastic, balanced - and sometimes controversial - view of a subject of interest to everyone who cares about the quality of books written for children." Light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, minor soiling, small remainder mark on bottom of text block, very light browning to pages. Dimensions: 8.9in. x 5.9in. x 0.8in.ORIGINS EDITION: Re-edited, revised, repackaged and expanded, this new edition of Raising the Past is superior to all that came before. Be sure to look for Robinsons other Origins Editions, which include re-releases of his first five novels. FROM THE ICE. . . OUT OF THE MAMMOTH. . . The body of an ancient woman, cloaked in furs, slides out of the mammoths belly. But it is not the woman that holds the teams attention. . . it is the object she is clutching. . . a device created by an advanced civilization. THE HUNT IS ON. . . The device is accidentally activated, summoning forces who seek its destruction. It is the key to mankinds salvation and freedom from the sinister force hiding behind the curtain, pulling the strings and leading humanity towards destruction. PRAISE FOR RAISING THE PAST Jeremy Robinsons novel RAISING THE PAST is a rollicking Arctic adventure that explores the origins of the human species.
