Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Marko Maetamm and Kaido Ole (illustrator). This is an art catalogue issued in conjunction with the Estonian entry exhibited at the International Exposition of Art (Esposizione Internazionale D'Arte) held in Venice in 2003. The artist who represented Estonia that year was one 'John Smith' - actually a fictional character who was the 'Conceptual Persona' of 2 real Estonian artists, Marko Maetamm and Kaido Ole. Their work was being exhibited as the official Estonian entry into the 50th Venice Biennale that year. This piece has several parts to it. One is a small hardbound book (measuring 5.5" x 6.5" with 160 pages), text in English and illustrated with b/w drawings. This small book fits into a plastic pocket that is mounted on the front cover of a larger format catalogue, soft cover and illustrated in color, that measures 8.5" x 10.5" with 31 pages. There is also a large format postcard (measuring 4.75" x 8.25") that reproduces one of the items ("At Home") from the exhibit in color on the front with a brief description of the exhibit on the reverse. The texts in all the items are in English. The corners of the larger format catalogue are a bit curled. This has no impact on the rest of the piece which are in generally excellent condition. Due to the odd configuration of this catalogue, additional shipping charges will be required for all deliveries outside the United States. SALE PRICE.

Comic
Condition: new. Pages: 159 Language: Estonian. "Tuleviku araablane" on hinnatud koomiksikunstniku Riad Sattoufi 6-osaline autobiograafiline sari. See on üks viimase kümnendi menukamaid prantsuse graafilisi romaane, mida on kokku müüdud üle kolme miljoni eksemplari. Teos on pälvinud Prantsuse tähtsaima koomiksiauhinna Le Fauve d'or'i ning sari on tõlgitud rohkem kui 20 keelde. Aasta koomiksi auhinnaga on tunnustatud ka tõlkeid. Riad Sattouf on prantsuse-süüria karikaturist, koomiksikunstnik ja filmirezhissöör, kelle käekirja tunnevad lugejad üle maailma iseloomuliku graafilise joone ja satiiriliste argielu anekdootide poolest. Aastatel 2004-2014 töötas Sattouf Prantsuse satiirilises nädalalehes Charlie Hebdo, kus ilmus tema tuntud koomiksisari "Noorte salajane elu" ("La vie secrete des jeunes"). "Läbi süütute lapsesilmade jutustatud autobiograafiline lugu talutab meid mängulise kergusega araabia kultuuri keskmesse, paljastades nagu möödaminnes ka selle maailma kõige kummalisemaid ja lausa hämaraid nüansse. Virtuoosselt joonistatud ja üliladusalt loetav pildi ning teksti sümbioos." - Marko Mäetamm 9789985358290.

Curator: Alistair Hicks. Istanbul: Pera Muzesi, 2017. 4to., 110 p., color ills. Turkish and English. Paperback. New ISBN: 9786054642700 CATALOG: Painting & Sculpture KEYWORDS: Contemprary Art Doublethink: Double vision?s title alludes to George Orwell?s seminal work 1984 and offers a reading of alternative thinking methods. The word ?Doublethink? was invented to demonstrate how the State was taking over the individual?s mind. Doublethink is the ability to hold two contradictory ideas in your mind at the same time and believe in both of them. Artists from around the world are showing how to develop not just doublethink, but polythink, thinking along multiple parallel or tangential lines at the same time. The exhibition catalogue reflects the changing ways of thinking and communication in arts with the curator Alistair Hicks? texts and his selection of artworks at the exhibition. Studying the friction between the visual and the verbal and aiming to point at the radical transformation experienced in ways of thinking under doublethink, the exhibition presents the works of these artists: Yuri Albert, Nikita Alexeev, Kader Attia, Sarnath Banerjee, Erik Bulatov, Hera Buyuktasciyan, Olga Chernysheva, Asli Cavusoglu, Marilá Dardot, Marcel Dzama, Tracey Emin, Merike Estna, Claire Fontaine, Sandra Gamarra, Duan Jianyu, Ali Kazma, William Kentridge, Waqas Khan, Anselm Kiefer, Galim Madanov & Zauresh Terekbay, Marko Mäetamm, Mónica de Miranda, Ciprian Muresan, Arkadiy Nasonov, Bruce Nauman, Pavel Pepperstein, Raymond Pettibon, RAQS Media Collective, Thomas Ruff, Nedko Solakov, Erdem Tasdelen, Gavin Turk, Keith Tyson, Yangjiang Group.
