Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1942 first edition. Large oblong paper over board covers with black cloth spine. There is rubbing to the spine edges, with some fraying and the edges rubbed through. The edges of the boards are rubbed and the corners are rubbed through. One small stain at the top of the front cover. Small primary school ink stamp inside the front cover, but no library marks on the exterior the binding. The text is clean and tightly bound. Beautifully illustrated by Newberry. This was a 1943 Caldecott honor book.
