Item Description: Junius F. Wells, 1883. 7 x 9 1/2" engraved illustration. In a gilt frame [15 x 17"], with chipping to the gilt at the corners. There are large areas of dampstaining to the matte and borders of the illustration, with the dampstaining at the foot extending beyond the title caption, and just into the lower edge of the illustration. The image depicts the busts, in oval, of Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer, and Martin Harris. Behind the image of Whitmer is a scroll with the word "Joseph." To the rear of Martin Harris, is a scroll with the name "Judah." Engraved by H. B. Hall & Sons, New York. Based on an 1880 photograph, looking southeast at northwest end. According to Richard Neitzel Holzapfel and Cameron J. Packer, Junius F. Wells, editor of the Contributor, remarked, "The Hill Cumorah is a reproduction of a fine photograph which apostle Franklin D. Richards had taken during his visit there a few years ago [1880]. The group seen upon the hillside consists of himself, wife [Jane Snyder Richards], sons Lorenzo and Charles, and Joseph A. West, besides the owner of the ground." - Holzapfel, Richard Neitzel, and Cameron J. Packer. "The Early Visual Images of Cumorah." Item Description: Taylor Francis Ltd, United Kingdom, 1998. Paperback. Book Condition: New. 244 x 168 mm. Language: English . Brand New Book. Catherine the Great (1729-1796) wrote over two dozen plays and operettas, but not until this edition has a complete translation of any of them been available to an English- speaking readership. Oh, These Times (1772) is a satirical attack on many vices Catherine wished to root out from her society: religious hypocrisy, superstition and slander. The main character, Mrs. Pious, is a superficially religious old woman who resembles Moliere s Tartuffe. Catherine again sets her sights on superstition in The Siberian Shaman (1786), this time by satirizing shamanism as a deceitful profession which preys on the gullible. This play was part of a group of three plays usually known as Catherine s anti-masonic trilogy, written as a warning against the growing influence of the freemasons. In a comprehensive introduction, Lurana Donnels O Malley relates the plays to Catherine s status and philosophy. Bookseller Inventory # AA69789057550232

It knocks from the outside, unworthy to enter and instead of placing itself in a proper manner to enter, this force takes the shape of a leech. It lies on the surface of Freemasonry, hidden often in plain sight, and attempts to perpetuate its existence from the lifeblood of the Fraternity, its fellowship, its enlightenment, and its benevolence towards other members that has a residual positive effect on humanity. Item Description: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. Paperback. Book Condition: New. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. 208 pages. Dimensions: 8.0in. x 5.2in. x 0.5in.Albert Pike perhaps said it best when he wrote, Everywhere the sacred body of Nature was covered with the veil of allegory, which concealed it from the profane, and allowed it to be seen only by the sage who thought it worthy to be the object of his study and investigation. She showed herself to those only who loved her in spirit and in truth, and she abandoned the indifferent and careless to error and to ignorance. Masonic allegorical lessonry can best be defined as symbolic Masonic themes incorporated into our daily lives, our surroundings and even our culture. You see, a great many Masons founded the United States of America. With that said, Masonic inspirations and influences abound. Each time a man is schooled in the lessons of the Craft, he often uses these lessons and even incorporates them throughout his lifes work. Whether the man is an ordinary one or a well-known one, the lessons learned by each man can never be truly taken from him. This brings up the point of this book, as Albert Pike wrote, They are to us but parables and allegories, involving and enveloping Masonic instruction. These Masonic allegorical themes are in art, literature, books, architecture, movies, on television, on our money, in law and even in our different levels of government. Literally, they are almost everywhere. This, of course, has led to a great many conspiracies, many of which are unworkable and are thus impossible. As the informed Mason quickly learns, the Craft is nothing more than an ancient form of education. It literally teaches a man how to think and act. The benefit a man receives is in his Masonic education, not from what he will get from another Mason. The truth is we do as Masons communicate with each other and have attempted, although individually, to influence our culture from the moral and intellectual lessons learned within the Craft. We communicate and leave our mark culturally; just as other people communicate and leave their mark culturally. Therefore, Tales from a Masonic Storyteller is a book that includes allegorical stories, in speech form, about the Three Little Pigs, Jesus the Craftsman, Pledge of Allegiance, Star Spangled Banner, Mahatma Gandhi on God, Benjamin Franklin on Masonic Secrecy and more. Item Description: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. Paperback. Book Condition: New. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. 234 pages. Dimensions: 11.0in. x 8.5in. x 0.5in.The Degree of Mark Master, which is the Fourth in the Masonic series, is, historically considered, of the utmost importance, since we are informed that, by its influence, each operative Mason, at the building of King Solomons Temple, was known and distinguished, and the disorder and confusion which might otherwise have attended so immense an undertaking was completely prevented, and not only the craftsmen themselves, but every part of their workmanship was discriminated with the greatest nicety and the utmost facility. It is claimed by Masonic writers, that this Degree in Masonry was instituted by King Solomon, at the building of the Temple, for the purpose of detecting impostors, while paying wages to the craftsmen. Each operative was required to put his mark upon the product of his labor, and these distinctive marks were all known to the Senior Grand Warden. If any of the workmanship was found to be defective, it was a matter of no difficulty for the overseers to ascertain at once who was the imperfect craftsman, and remedy the defect. Thus the faulty workman was punished, without diminishing the wages of the diligent and faithful craftsmen. Today, Marks are not generally recorded; this duty is very much neglected--it should be done, and strictly enforced in every Lodge of Mark Master Masons. This Book of Marks allows you to actually register up to 500 Masons Marks of your newly-admitted Brethren to be kept on record for all time. No Mark Masters Lodge or Royal Arch Chapter Library should be without one! Get a copy for your Lodge or Chapter today! This item ships from La Vergne,TN. Paperback.
