About this Item: Compozitor (SPb.). Condition: new. The piano cycle "The North’s Echoes" (op. 37) was created by German Grigoryevich Okunev (1931–1931) in that happy 1966. Later on March 10, 1967, the author presented it at the Leningrad Philharmonic Maly (Small) Hall during the Third Leningrad Musical Spring. Those were the day, when the world witnessed the rising composer of the new generation and mentality, brilliant skillful intellectual, greedy for work, ready to tireless discovering and simultaneously a handsome, kind and vulnerable man radiating romantic elated spirit due to his nature, all the same with his friends and listeners. The sounds of his music shed light over both the mind and ear, expressing sincere and clear feelings. "The North’s Echoes" take special place in the history of piano cycle. This is not the cycle of preludes, etudes, dances, or other established genres. Nevertheless, there is the firm ground to rank this opus among such programmatic narrative cycles as the "Carnival" by R. Schumann, "Pictures from the Exhibition" by M. Musorgsky, "Seasons" by P. Tchaikovsky and "Engraving Plates" by C. Debussy. Meanwhile, Okunev’s style is noticed to be independent of his great predecessors, for the composer’s individuality becomes the spiritualist of plain sensitive fantasies. Russian EAN 9790660046449. About this Item: Compozitor (SPb.). Condition: new. It was a rough bumpy ride of mine to this work. It is really so, for one is to break through thick and thin forcing way to the personality of Modest Petrovich Musorgsky. Musorgsky's genius is above times and epochs, he is larger than life. Therefore there rises the only unsolved question: isn't it too bold to interfere into the author's original, or what is the degree of that force able to act inside the great composer's opus, adopting it to new performing options. There is example: Maurice Ravel orchestrated "Pictures From the Exhibition". That was a wonderful, even divine choir-master Vladimir Vasilyevich Stolpovskikh to have inspired me. He exactly managed to fascinate me by the idea of Modest Musorgsky's compositions. You, my executants, are welcome to appreciate these results just singing them in concert halls. Yakov Dubravin Contents FOUR FRAGMENTS from the piano cycle "Pictures from the Exhibition''' 1. Promenade. Verses by E. Alexandrova 2. Old Castle. Verses by V. Sokolov 3. Bydlo. Verses by V. About this Item: Compozitor (SPb.). Condition: new. Having arisen from a word, "Song of the beautiful stranger" have inspired to life other artistic firms, having generated the tripartite alliance of arts. Svetlana and Sabir Gadzhiev, Saint-Petersburg artists, created paintings dedicated to Izosimov "Songs". There is difficult for attributing their stylistic shape in terms of any known school. There is also a light scale of paints inherent to Izosimov composition in them. The prevalence of yellow-golden gamut, creates both a transparency of color, and illusoriness due to which the image of canvases is looked quasi through a veil of time or dream ("The Daybreak Song" depict a shape of light prince). They are filled with various symbolics ("River Sugakleja"). There is something from a children's spontaneity in Gadzhiev's artistic manner, as, for example, in Izosimov' Rumpelstilzhen portrait. There are not enough examples in history when the artistical canvas became a pulse to creation of a piece of music as ingenious Musorgsky's "Picture from an Exhibition". Here obvious we have inverse phenomenon. Having arisen from perception of a piece of music, Gadzhievs' paintings are far from just illustrativeness. They possess the independent figurative world, inseparable from their fancy style palette. Contents: HYMN TO THE DAY. Verses by Novalis, translated by N. Galkin MY SWEET LAND. Verses by E. Moerike, translated by A. Alexandrova UNDER THE HEART OF GRASS. Verses by A. Tarkovsky POOR FISHERMAN. Verses by A. Tarkovsky PIPE SONG. Verses by L. Uhland, translated by F. Tyutchev GRASSHOPPERS. About this Item: CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS, United Kingdom, 1992. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. The piano cycle Pictures at an Exhibition is perhaps the most widely known of Musorgsky s compositions, especially as orchestrated by Ravel. This informative and wide-ranging guide places the original piano work in the context of Russian cultural life, considering in particular the work of the artist Victor Hartman, creator of the pictures which inspired Musorgsky s composition. A detailed synopsis takes the reader through each piece in turn, describing the forms, the external references, and drawing connections with Musorgsky s other musical works. Chapters on the music itself consider, for example, folk elements, key relations and motivic structures. Dr Russ also describes the fate of the work in the hands of editors and performers and closes by surveying the best of the orchestrations, particularly that by Ravel. The book is illustrated with photographs of the existing pictures from Hartman s exhibition. Seller Inventory # AAV9780521386074

About this Item: Oxford University Press, United Kingdom, 2010. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.Hailed by the New York Times Book Review as a no-holds-barred biography and a state-of-the-art guide to the composer s life and works, this superb volume in the Master Musicians series offers the first life-and-works study of this towering composer of nineteenth-century Russian music to appear in English for over a half century. David Brown shows how the largely untrained Modest Musorgsky emerged as a supreme musical dramatist in his first opera, Boris Godunov. Along with this impressive debut and his much-loved piano suite, Pictures at an Exhibition, Musorgsky produced some of the most startlingly novel music of the nineteenth century. He also displayed a prodigious gift for uncovering the emotional content of a text in his highly original song compositions. While illuminating Musorgsky s work, Brown paints a detailed portrait of a fitful composer who could apply himself with superhuman intensity when the inspiration was upon him, but who deteriorated into alcoholism and died tragically young.
