This problem has given rise to a number of socio economic problems. It is beyond doubt that children are forced by circumstance to do labour in a tender age when they should have been studying in school. These circumstances are poverty unemployment large family illiteracy and ignorance of parents. Besides these poor labour legislation inadequate inspecting machinery absence of provision for compulsory education etc are also some of the reason responsible for child labour. We need lot of efforts not only from the society but also from the government as a whole to tackle this problem. If we want to eradicate this problem all over the world every individual including the employers parents NGO's international agencies have to work together. However with children under 14 years banned from working in factories and homes since 10 October 2006 the government is gearing up for a rehabilitation programme. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also called for the abolition of child labour. In a statement he said arrangements have been made to educate children released from work under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. The Prime Minister even warned of firm action against those found violating the ban. Hence the present initiative of compiling invited chapters on bioterrorism and biological warfare should fulfill the existing gap and provide authentic information. This book offers a rich dialogue of many opinions and different scientific dimensions of the bio threats. It will assist actions such as coping with disaster of traumatic event helping children and teens information to responders information for health professionals information to states and planners and educational materials for public awareness may be developed to combat bio terroristic events. The principles of biosurveillance are applicable to both man made and natural epidemics. The use of agents that do not cause harm to humans but disrupt the economy such as foot and mouth disease have been witnessed in the 2001 and 2007 in the U.K. and hence forth would become more important. Clearly there is a need to improve the ability to protect our citizens from potential bioterror threats and to increase our capacity to deal with the medical and public health consequences of any future attacks. The book will be significant in the existing biotechnology and microbiology courses. The book might also help in generating ideas of research in hitherto ignored important areas of the bio threat and biosurveillance fields. 368 pp. Seller Inventory # 72505

Nematodes represent a unique challenge to agricultural research, in that they combine the potential for serious reductions in growth and yield in a wide range of crop plants, often with rather non?specific and easily mis?diagnosed symptoms. Development of the concept of pest management and their implementation have led to a greater appreciation of the need for a wide range of tactics for nematode control. The present book ``Nematode Management in Plants`` provides an authoritative review of many aspects of nematode control and progress in the field of nematode management programme. The volume contains eighteen articles covering application of cropping sequences, plant products and botanicals, latex, bioagents and biological control practices for the management of nematode pests. Topics covering use of Azotobacter, Bacillus thuringiensis and VAM Fungi for reducing nematode pests have been specially included to project their role in the present century. Information on Integrated Nematode Management have been included with special emphasis on biocontrol management practices. They supplied lot of materials as Non Wood Forest Products (NWFP) such as fuel wood, bamboo, grasses edible fruits, rhizomes bulbils shoots and leaves as well as in the form of most valuable medicinal and aromatic plants. The local population derived sustained livelihood from collection and consumption or by sale. Gradually, due to unscientific practices, these species have either disappeared altogehter or have depleted precariously impacting the livelihood of the local people. The life cycle of tropical species is closely interlinked facilitative numerous biotic interactions in the form of pollination seed germination seedling establishment and symbiotic association. Often it is seldom appreciated that disappearance of associated species in the canopy or in the ground flora may have ecological ramifications as well. (jacket). Seller Inventory # 110865
