Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. An irresistible volume chronicling the fiery photographic collaboration of David Bailey and Angelica HustonDavid Bailey was the model for the swinging playboy photographer in Michelangelo Antonioni's classic 1966 film, Blow-Up. Born in London in 1938, Bailey had, by 1960, become the first celebrity photographer--known especially for his revolutionary work for Vogue, and for the fact that he socialized with actors, musicians and royalty. His many influential books include, Trouble and Strife (1980), Nudes (1984), If We Shadows (1991), The Lady Is a Tramp (1995) and Rock 'n' Roll Heroes (1997). Bailey's Box of Pin-Ups (1964)--a box of posters of London celebrities like Terence Stamp, The Beatles and the notorious East End gangsters, The Kray Twins--remains an extremely influential publication for its then-odd close cropping of the subjects' heads, which has since become a common technique in fashion photography, in order to give the illusion that the model is larger than life. In 1973, Bailey did all his major fashion shoots for British Vogue with actress and, at that time, occasional model, Anjelica Huston. This irresistible volume chronicles the duo's fiery photographic collaboration. The title, "Is That So Kid," is borrowed from Huston's father, film director John Huston's, trademark retort. No Binding. Condition: Fine. Signed "Valerie Perrine" in silver metallic ink. This 8"x10" black and white photograph has two very small black sharpie pen marks in hair area, otherwise in fine condition. Perrine was born in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of Winifred "Renee" (née McGinley), a dancer who appeared in Earl Carroll's Vanities, and Kenneth Perrine, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. Her mother was Scottish (of Irish descent), from Helensburgh in Dunbartonshire. Owing to her father's career, Perrine lived in many locations as the family moved to different posts. She began her career as a Las Vegas showgirl. Some believe she made her film debut with an uncredited part in Diamonds Are Forever (1971), but this is not true. She played soft-core pornography actress Montana Wildhack in Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five (1972). Perrine was photographed for a pictorial layout in the May 1972 issue of Playboy, later appearing on the cover in August 1981. She then became the first actress to purposely display herself nude on American television by completely baring her breasts during the May 4, 1973, PBS broadcast of Bruce Jay Friedman's Steambath on Hollywood Television Theater. (She was seen taking a shower from the side totally undressed.) Only a few PBS stations nationwide were adventurous enough to carry the program. Later in 1973, she appeared in the episode "When the Girls Came Out to Play" of the romantic anthology television series Love Story (1973). In 1975, Perrine was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress (Drama) and won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as comedian Lenny Bruce's wife, stripper Honey Bruce, in Bob Fosse's Lenny (1974). She was Carlotta Monti in the biopic W.C. Fields and Me (1976). One of her best-remembered movie roles came as Miss Eve Teschmacher, moll of criminal mastermind Lex Luthor, in Superman (1978). For this role, she was nominated for the 1979 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. She reprised her role as Miss Teschmacher in Superman II (1980). Perrine played Charlotta Steele, ex-wife of a rodeo champion played by Robert Redford, in The Electric Horseman (1979). Her career grew uneven after an appearance in Can't Stop the Music (1980), for which she was nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress. This film has since become a cult classic. In 1982, she played the role of Marcy, the wife of a corrupt police officer, in The Border with Jack Nicholson. In the years since then, Perrine has worked in lower-profile projects, although she did have a small supporting role in the 2000 Mel Gibson film What Women Want. In 1995, Perrine made a guest appearance on the series Homicide: Life on the Street, playing an ex-wife of Richard Belzer's Detective John Munch. Signed by Author(s).

Boards in Illustrated Jacket. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. np, profusely illustrated in b&w and color. Text in English and Japanese. "California Club" is the first feature length book to feature noted Playboy and Penthouse Magazine photographer Ken Marcus' explicit bondage images. Shot in 1995 in sunny Southern California, Marcus employed both the Japanese Kinbaku master Nagaike Takeshi and his American counterpart Ernest Greene (credited here as "Ira") to tie, gag, and suspend a bevy of erotic models and adult film actresses. Featuring hundreds of yards of multi-colored rope, corsets, lots of latex, and leather collars, belts and restraints aplenty, the very early in their careers Chasey Lain, Jenna Jameson, and Dita Von Teese appear in more than a dozen images each as part of this "East Meets West" fusion. A brand new, most handsome example of the first and only edition of this exceedingly uncommon (unsurprisingly only a single copy in a Tokyo library is currently cited in OCLC WorldCat) item published only in Japan. Erotic Photography Monograph.
