About this Item: Helian, Roseville, Australia, 1993. Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Color, b/w Illustrations (illustrator). First Edition. Folio - between 12" - 15" Tall. Signed and inscribed by author opposite title page. A near fine copy in original jacket (slight wear). "Ian Bersten made coffee his purpose in life - as a coffee trader, a developer of coffee roasters, and as a collector. This background enables him to ask unusual questions and to present an astonishing variety of information and material in an unorthodox way. The author's great curiosity for the history of coffee is refreshing. Not since Ukers' ALL ABOUT COFFEE was published in 1935 has such a thoroughly researched work on coffee and tea processing been put in print. An amazing encyclopedic book that is a "must have" reference for every serious coffee and tea library.". Seller Inventory # 005506363

About this Item: UKERS, William H. ALL ABOUT TEA. Two volumes. New York: The Tea and Coffee Trade Journal, 1935. 4to. Publisher's cloth. Co frontispiece, xvi, 559; viii, 568 pages. First edition. Still considered to be the most comprehensive book on tea, it contains an extensive bibliography and chronology on the subject. This is a very bright set. As with many copies of this set, the foreedge had been exposed to moisture, most probably before the books were bound, crinkling many pages (especially in Volume I) on the outside quarter of an inch of margin. None o the pages have lost their surface coating, however. The dust jacket flaps fo both volumes are pasted to front blanks. Still, a most desirable set. Seller Inventory # 37210

About this Item: The Tea and coffee trade journal Co, 1935. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 2 volume set. 1st ed. Bound in publisher's green cloth, with gold lettering. Maps on lining papers. 27 cm. xvi, 559 p. vii, 568 p. Hardcover. Good bindings and covers. Name on book plate on half titles. In 1935 William Ukers published his massive, 1149 page, 54 chapter opus on Tea. He spent twenty-five years collecting material and visiting the tea-growing regions of Asia before delving into research work in the principal libraries, museums and laboratories of America and Europe. Only 600 copies of Ukers' work were printed. One of the most extensive works ever written on Tea, heavily illustrated with photographs and reproductions. Today the work is still a foundational work in culinary history and is often referenced. Recently the work was cited as the most significant work on tea in the NYPL's collections on Culinary History. This is an oversized or heavy book, which requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US. Seller Inventory # 1907090001

About this Item: The Tea and Coffee Trade Journal Company, New York, 1935. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. A very good copy of the first two-volume hard cover edition (the dates on the copyright and title pages correspond; no other additional printings noted), lacking dust-jackets. The text of each volume is wholly unmarked, pristine, and the green cloth binding with gilt devices and lettering are still quite bright and fresh in appearance. There is a 1/2" intact tear at the top of the spine of volume I, and a couple of small bits of spotting to the top page edge of the volume. Very faint dampstain to top corner of the first three dozen pages of Volume II, with two additional bits of spotting to the margin side of the volume, affecting pages 205-330, visible on thye very edges of the margins, if at all. Slight wrinkle to page edges of this volume, as from ambient moisture, running from pages 225-370. A bit of foxing to the top edges of the volumes. The bindings are quite solid: no evidence of splitting or cracking to the gutters. A lovely set. [Please note: Due to the size and weight of the volumes extra shipping may be required depending on the destination and speed of delivery requested. Quotations gladly provided.].
