About this Item: Independently Published, United States, 2020. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. BHAGWAD GITA is the Divine song of Sri Krishna. It was told to the confused and depressed warrior Arjuna at the epicenter of the battlefield. But even after thousands of years, it is a timeless knowledge and an ideal code of conduct. This book is a devotional attempt to bring holy Gita in the faster read version so that the new reader can get attracted to it. After reading Bhagwad Gita, different people have come out with different interpretations as per their understanding. Ultimately the philosophy of Lord Krishna helps us to build self-confidence and to face critical situations with courage. Krishna had tried all options to avoid the great war of Mahabharata. But there was no breakthrough. Duryodhana had rejected every solution offered by Krishna. There was only one way forward to settle the dispute between Dharma (Righteousness) and Adharma and that was to fight a war. Kings and their armies from all over India participated in this destructive war and fought for either Pandavas or Kauravas. On the very first day on the battlefield, when Arjuna asked Krishna to show him who all are fighting against Pandavas on Kurukshetra, Krishna took the chariot in front of Bhishma and Drona. Krishna could have easily taken the Arjuna in front of Duryodhana or Karna, so that Arjun would have started the war as in the fury of revenge. But probably Krishna wanted to confuse Arjuna and same thing happened. When Arjuna saw his near and dear ones he got depressed, lost his energy, and sat helplessly on the ground. He threw away his favorite bow Gandiva and told Sri Krishna. "I am not going to fight !" Lakhs of soldiers on both sides were waiting for the sound of the conch (Shankh), marking start of the war, but one of the greatest warriors on the earth was unwilling to lift his bow. Arjuna lost his interest to win any kingdom, power, or wealth at the cost of his brothers, relatives, teachers, and friends. On this extraordinary backdrop at the epicenter of the battlefield, the great philosophy of Bhagwad Gita emerged from the mouth of Shri Krishna. Gita, the Divine song of God is told not just to motivate Arjuna to fight the war, but it is the supreme knowledge that Krishna passed on to his friend and devotee. This timeless philosophy unfolds the meaning of life and teaches us how to attain liberation. By the grace of Lord Krishna, I am happy to present this simple, fast read format of His holy preaching. About this Item: Notion Press, Inc., United States, 2017. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. A must-read for Dev Anand fans and students of film history "A broken nose sometimes makes a great boxer," said the evergreen Bollywood star Dev Anand after his movie Ishq Ishq Ishq did not work at the box office. In his sixty-five years of unchallenged dominance as the most-loved Hindi film star, Dev Anand gave us several memorable hits like Guide, Taxi Driver, Hum Dono, Johny Mera Naam, and Hare Rama Hare Krishna. He was not only an exceptionally handsome and stylish hero. His 'man of the future' philosophy is worth emulating by persons of all generations. He neither celebrated his successes nor lamented over his failures. A Karma Yogi, in the true sense of the term, he produced, directed, and acted in a lead role in a movie at the age of eighty-eight, which is without parallel in the history of Bollywood. The book attempts to analyse why his philosophy of life is a source of inspiration for all. It also gives a detailed filmography from Hum Ek Hain to Charge Sheet, with a separate chapter on Guide, and a special write-up on his genius brother Vijay Anand. Seller Inventory # APC9781948032544

Micro finance is a policy instrument to promote economic development, employment and growth through the support of micro entrepreneurs and small businesses. Micro finance is a movement whose objective is a world in which as many poor and near-poor households as possible have permanent access to an appropriate range of high quality financial services, including not just credit but also savings, insurance, and fund transfers. Many of those who promote micro finance believe that such access will help poor people get out of poverty. Several factors have led to increased interest in micro finance in promoting growth with gender equity. With the growing globalization and liberalization of the economy as well as increased privatization of services, women as a whole have been left behind and not been able to partake in the fruits of success. Mainstreaming of women into the new and emerging areas of growth is imperative. This will require training and skill upgradation in emerging trades and encouraging more women to take up vocational training and employment in the booming sectors. Small enterprises are the best vehicle for stimulating entrepreneurial talent and participation of women in the development process. Small enterprises provide livelihood, check rural-urban migration, generate export earnings and touch upon the lives of the marginalized, disadvantaged and vulnerable women, in both urban and rural areas. The role of micro finance cannot be over emphasized in this context. This book contains 11 research papers, authored by experts in the field of finance, which provide empirical evidence of the role of micro finance in economically empowering women, particularly in rural areas. About this Item: Shri Bharatvarshiya Digambar Jain Mahasabha, 2018. Soft cover. Condition: New. 2nd Edition. From the preface: 'The Early Faith of Asoka' written by Edward Thomas, published in 1876. The book establishes the fact that Buddhism was an offshoot of Jainism. The book is a historical find and of great importance to the Jains because it brings to light the forgotten inscriptions at Gimar, the final resting place of Moksha (Nirvan) in Gujarat. The rock inscription at Gimar, (2nd Cover) and edicts of Asoka (3rd & 4th Cover) confirm beyond doubt Lord Neminath's teachings of Jains. Gimar inscription also confirms that Girnar belonged to Jains from time in memory. Jains have always practised and believed that Digamber Jains have an age old tradition of worshipping the footprints (Charans) of their Gods (Tirthankaras) from time in memory and this tradition is unique to Digamber Jains. In no other religion the footprints of Gods are carved in marble stones and worshipped. In Hindu and Buddhist temples and shrines there is no tradition of carving of footprints of Gods or worshipping the footprints. Digamber Jains have shrines all over India prominently at Shikharjee Parasnath (Bihar) and at Pawapuri (Mahavira) Footprints) and have been worshipping them for thousands of years and even from pre-Christian times. Footprints of 22" Tirthankara at Gimar are clear and no amount of camouflaging can hide them. The truth has a uncanny habit of unfolding itself. The footprints of Neminath have been established beyond doubt. This is in continuation of Dig amber Jains age old tradition and no amount of denial can disprove this truth. Lord Krishna of Hindu Avtar, was son of Vasudeva and Devki. Samudra Vijay was the elder brother of Vasudeva. Lord Neminath (22" Tirthankara of Jains) was the son of Samudra Vijay. Jains cannonical literature (Harvansh Purana) establishes this beyond doubt and this fact is established and accepted historically as well by Hindus. Thus it is a undeniable fact that Lord Neminath is a historical personality dating in the times of Lord Krishna. Hindus accept the fact that Lord Krishna is more than 2 thousand years earlier to Christian era. We are giving a Replica of Girnar inscription on the rock of Girnarji as found by National Museum, New Delhi as per their Archives record. This book is being reproduced without any addition and deletion as was printed in 1876 by Edward Thomas except the Preface and Note regarding the book. We are also adding the photographs of Charans of Lord Neminath at Gimar. Seller Inventory # 129348

About this Item: Westland Books, 2018. Soft cover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. A seemingly random selection of heads of state are struck down like flies by unnamed killers who work with the clinical efficiency of butchers. Except that they leave no trace of their methods. Welcome back to the shadowy and addictive world of Ashwin Sanghi. After The Rozabal Line, Chanakya s Chant, The Krishna Key and The Sialkot Saga, Ashwin Sanghi returns at last with another quietly fearsome tale-this time of men who guard the Kalachakra or The Wheel of Time. Sanghi describes a world of people at war with one another-a boomeranging conflict of faiths that results in acts of such slow and planned human cruelty that they defy human imagination. Caught in the midst of this madness is Vijay Sundaram, a geek scientist who is only dimly aware that the wider sky outside his laboratory is stretched taut and close to being torn apart by forces that he wants simply to have nothing to do with. But events conspire to propel Vijay into the labyrinth of Milesian Labs, a centre of research deep in the forested hills of Uttarakhand. What he stumbles upon is a primordial clue to a galactic secret that could accelerate the downward spiral of humankind. Trapped and wholly unaware of his actual foe, Vijay races against time to save humanity-and himself. Zigzagging from Rama s crossing to Lanka to the birth of Buddhism; from the origin of Wahhabism to the Einsteinian gravitational wave-detectors of LIGO; from the charnel-grounds of naked tantric practitioners to the bespoke suits of the Oval Office; and from the rites of Minerva, shrouded in frankincense, to the smoke-darkened ruins of Nalanda, Keepers of the Kalachakra is a journey that will have you gasping for breath-but one that you cannot abandon till all the pieces of the jigsaw come together. Till you come up gobsmack against an end that you simply did not see coming. Seller Inventory # 124406

About this Item: BROOKINGS INSTITUTION, United States, 2007. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. A daunting challenge to the international community is how to go about lifting the world's huge poor population out of poverty. "Asset-based" approaches to development are aimed specifically at designing and implementing public policies that will increase the capital assets of the poor -i.e., the physical, financial, human, social, and natural resources that can be acquired, developed, improved, and transferred across generations. In this pathbreaking book, Caroline Moser and a group of experts with on-the-ground experience provide a set of case studies of asset-building projects around the globe. The authors use a cutting-edge research framework that moves beyond quick snapshot solutions to the problem of poverty. They highlight the ways in which poor households and communities can move out of poverty through longer-term accumulation of capital assets. Contributors include Michael Carter (University of Wisconsin), Monique Cohen (Microfinance Opportunities), Sarah Cook (Institute of Development Studies, Sussex), Hector Cordero-Guzman (Baruch College, CUNY), Lilianne Fan (Oxfam, UK), Pablo Farias (Ford Foundation, New York), Clare Ferguson (formerly DFID), Andy Felton (FDIC), Sarah Gammage (Rutgers University), Anirudh Krishna (Duke University), Amy Liu (Brookings Institution), Vijay Mahajan (BASIX, India), Paula Nimpuno-Parente (Ford Foundation, South Africa), Manuel Orozco (Inter-American Dialogue),Victoria Quiroz-Becerra (Baruch College, CUNY), Dennis Rodgers (London School of Economics), and Andres Solimano (CEPAL, Santiago, Chile).
