About this Item: Hodder & Stoughton, United Kingdom, 2008. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. The definitive guide to the cute, strange and esoteric world of lolcats and lolcat speak. Instead of just slapping some lolcats on the page and calling it a book, ICHC proposes a more helpful approach, hosted by Professor Happycat. In his Guide to Lolcats, Professor Happycat shows the reader the finer points of ICHC's most popular memes, including Caturday; Monorail Cat; Im in ur X, Y-ing ur Z; Invisible X; I has a flavour; Halp!; Do Not Want; Oh Noes! and many more. Each page includes an official lolcat definition of the meme along with pronunciation and examples of real life lolspeak situations (i.e. iz u reddy for mah lolcat book?). In approximately 150-200 user and owner generated photos, lolcat lovers can get their fix, even when they're unplugged. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. Seller Inventory # GOR001221109

About this Item: Atlantic Publishers & Distributors (P) Ltd, 2006. Hardcover. Condition: New. Rainfed agriculture has a distinct place in Indian agriculture, occupying 68 per cent of the total cultivated area and supporting 4 per cent of human and 6 per cent of livestock population. Agriculture in rainfed areas continues to be a gamble because farmers in the rainfed region face many uncertainties. In the light of growing population and demand to increase the food production especially in the developing countries with arid and csemi-arid climate, this book mainly focuses on the land use diversification involving multi-disciplinary approaches for sustainability in the rainfed regions. The present book consists of twenty-three articles in all by experts from various Central & State Government Organisations, Agricultural Universities and Research Organisations concerned with rainfed agriculture. These articles, covering various aspects of Land Use Diversification for Sustainable Rainfed Agriculture, have been arranged into five sections: (a) Diversification: Need of the Hour, (b) Natural Resources Dynamics, (c) Alternate Land Uses, (d) Case Studies, and (e) Capacity Building. Each of the articles is highly informative and it is hoped that this book will give an interesting insight into the varied rainfed agriculture related problems in India. It highlights the possible measures sustainable management of land and water resources, land use diversification, alternate land uses based on climate, soil and crop suitability, etc. that would help increase the cropland as well as crop and fodder production in rainfed areas. The present book enriched with selected case studies will be particularly useful for students, teachers, researchers and scientists working in the area of rainfed agriculture and agricultural planning for sustainable development.PART I DIVERSIFICATION: NEED OF THE HOUR 1. People's movement in the princely states of Orissa in the wider context of the nationalist movement: a case study of the Nilgiri state/A.C. Pradhan. 16. Freedom struggle in the Banaganapalle state/K. Maddaiah. Bibliography. Index. People's movements in the princely states forms an important aspect in the history of modern India with 45 per cent of the land and 24 per cent of the people the princely states played second fiddle to the imperial dictates. From the nineteenth century till they joined Indian Union in 1947 8 mostly they lived under the umbrella of the British. They never took serious measures or introduced steps for radical transformation of the states. There was no coherent place for the princes in the British imperial ideology. When the princes were using different strategies to retain centralized power the people fought against the princes to demand for responsible government and later to force them to join Indian Union. This was an absorbing encounter and an incredible story. In fact not many books are there to cover as many states discussing the situation in the princely states. In fact the growth of nationalism in those autocratic princely states was difficult slow and painstaking. The present book tries to answer some of these issues. This book broadly covers number of princely states including Hyderabad Mysore Travancore Jammu and Kashmir Gwalior and small states like Nilgiri in Orissa Banaganapalle in Andhra Pradesh. Simultaneously along with anti colonial struggle the people's movements in princely states symbolizes their struggle against the feudal and autocratic princes which helped in the ushering of Indian Union once India got independence. 246 pp. Seller Inventory # 50676

It highlights the possible measures?"sustainable management of land and water resources, land use diversification, alternate land uses based on climate, soil and crop suitability, etc.?"that would help increase the cropland as well as crop and fodder production in rainfed areas. The present book enriched with selected case studies will be particularly useful for students, teachers, researchers and scientists working in the area of rainfed agriculture and agricultural planning for sustainable development.PART ?"
