H.b. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 118 pgs. illustrated with very wonderful & humorous b&w engravings, depicting the "terms of venery" or hunting phrases, many brought down from medieval "Books of Venery" (wherein proper young gentlemen were taught the precise designation of groups of their quarry, e.g. "a pride of lions" "a skulk of foxes", etc.) Author Lipton has taken authentic and often delightful, even poetical, terms and was smitten with the musical & humorous terms and herein recorded them, even gone one step further & invented some new terms of venery to fit the modern world, e.g.: "a slough of models", "a wince of dentists", " a wrangle of philosophers" etc. If one is a reader and word-lover, this is a book you will enjoy immensely. Burgundy cloth boards & spine, which is gilt lettered, are in near new cond. d.j. is quite good also but has some sunning/fading. Interior text has some occasional underlining, else interior & exterior are in very good cond. Size: 6 3/4" x 10".

Soft cover. Condition: VG++. B/W Photographs (Film Stills) (illustrator). First (English). The sub-title is: Early Screenplays: `Variety Lights' and `The White Sheik'. 198 pages of screen text with setting notes, illus. with b/w movie stills. Even these are satirically bizarre in the true Fellini sense. Variety Lights deals with a small town third-rate cast of theater performers, principal among these is Checco - a Chaplinesque figure. The White Sheik begins on a train outside Rome, moves into a 2 star hotel and finishes on a Bedouins and concubines movie set. (It takes a Fellini to lead that journey.) Cond: White paper wrapper with a portrait of Frederico on the cover. General shelf wear to edges, corners and spine of this volume. 2 creases in back cover, 1 in front, light scratches, light soiling, corner bump. Starting between the two plays at the `Credits' page. No tears, marks NOR names. Quote: (p. 143) " Elsewhere on the beach, Oscar and a young odalisque are sitting and eating. The girl looks toward Fernando and Wanda. GIRL: Is that Fernando's new girl ? Ugh.How ugly she is ! Do you like her ? OSCAR (laying his hand on her thigh): I like you. The girl pushes. ".
