Large 4to 12" x 9 5/8". A great book which discusses the nature, prehistory, history, economy, oil, flora and fauna of Alaska as well as Mt. McKinly and Alaska's importance in terms of miliatry geography and strategy. This book has been adapted by the Rare Birds as a sort of commemoration of their Twenty-first Annual fishing Expedition - July 23 to the 30th in Alaska and their Annual Holiday Season feast on Dec. 29, 1971. Signed by 32 members of the Rare Birds group on the title page including by ten of the twelve members which went on the Alaska fishing expedition. 24 - 3" x 4.5" color photos glued into the first five leaves of the book, also two printed bits about the expedition and feast attached. 140 pages with 154 numbered illustrations - many fantastic full-page color landscape photos. Translated by Ewald Osers. Blue boards stamped in gold. Dust jacket has a few short tears. VG+/VG.
