An unlikely protagonist emerges, a 10-year-old boy named Marty Coslaw. The book features illustrations by Berni (or, Bernie) Wrightson (1948-2017), an American artist and illustrator. Wrightson became well-known for his intricate pencil- and brushwork in his illustrations for horror comics and other comic books. He and King collaborated on several projects.

The portfolio pockets contain 24 printed images: 12 b/w plates measuring 14 by 10 inches, each titled for a different month, and 12 color plates measuring 11 by 9 inches, also titled by month. Signed by both Stephen King and Berni Wrightson. One of 20 copies designated 'Publishers Copy'. This is number 6. A fine copy. .
