Hardcover. Condition: New. The Revised Standard Version is still, in our opinion, the best contemporary English translation of Scripture; not prone to eccentricities in translation decisions (though we do lament the one in Isaiah 7:14) nor to inclusive language pressures (as the NRSV apparently was). It is safe to say that it is the most widely used standard English translation in the scholarly world, reputed for its accuracy, and for the general reader it offers a balance between a broadly contemporary idiom and a sense of reverence in direct address to the Lord, as in the Psalms. The New Oxford edition is a study Bible, with lots of introductory material and reference notes; and it includes all the books considered canonical for Orthodox and Catholic readers. 1950 pp.
