Trade Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition First Printing. 136 Pages Indexed. Illustrated throughout on every page with charts, maps, and photographs many of which are in color. The Army Air Corps - known to the rest of the British Army as 'Teeny Weeny Airways', TWA for short - is the least-known of the three British forces' aviation units. The Army Air Corps is 'teeny weeny' only in terms of the size of its past aircraft, however, not in terms of its ability and effectiveness. In recent years, it has grown in importance, playing a vital role in the campaigns of the 1960s and 1970s, with its true worth coming to light during the South Atlantic campaign in 1982. That is not the whole story, however, because the Army Air Corps, which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in September 1987, has a daily role safeguarding the peace in Cyprus and Belize, supporting the civil power in Northern Ireland and as a major 'teeth arm' of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation on its Central front. Little has been written about the Corps but this account goes some way to redress the balance; it is not, though, a complete history of British Army aviation but rather a primer on today's force. Contents in Eight Chapters: Introduction and acknowledgements, A short history of army flying, Structure and command arrangements, Regiments squadrons and the AAC Centre, Aircraft, Weapons and role equipment, Future programmes, and Training and tactics.
