About this Item: Charles Scribner's Sons, New York. Hardcover. Condition: Good. The volumes from this set are published between 1898 and 1900. All volumes have green cloth boards with gilt border and decoration to front cover. Gilt print and decoration along spines. Gilt finish to top page edge. Deckle edges for vertical page edge. Printed with the original illustrations. All spines are sunned. The books are variously worn and do look their age. A few volumes have some water damage to covers and endpapers. Some worm holes through the deckle-edges. Small closed tears along page edges. The occasional small tear along spine or extremities. Boards are soiled to varying degrees, with some quite clean and others somewhat worse for wear. Interiors are age-toned, though the text and illustrations remain clear. Bindings all seem to be holding together rather well, though pulling away from spine and possibly beginning to crack in places. Further details and photos available upon request.
