Small tear/hole at spone with tape repair in reverse, small tape reinforcement at bottom of spine, some offset toning to endpapers. The attractive jacket is bright and fresh. The author's whole ambulance unit was captured at Derna in the retreat from Tobruk in 1941. For 7 months he and his colleagues existed in one of the worst German hell camps for POWs in Libya, working 16 to 20 hours a day in the broiling Libyan sun. After 7 months the author was moved to a camp in Italy where he organised educational and religious activities. Size: 8vo. Seller Inventory # 043869

About this Item: The Book Depot, Melbourne, 1944., 1944. Hard cover dust wrapper, xi/148pp, b&w plates. Dust wrapper worn and chipped, with some small tears; now protected. Boards worn at edges, corners lightly bumped, some staining of boards, pages browned, non-author inscription on front fep; a fair copy. The author enlisted in the AIF and served with the 2/8 Field Ambulance in Libya. On 7 April 1941 he and his whole unit were captured at Derna, in the retreat from Tobruk. For 7 months he was incarcerated in one of the worst German POW camps in Libya, Lager KG. He was then transferred to Italy where he organised educational and religious activities amongst the prisoners there. He was repatriated in April 1943. Seller Inventory # 169914
