This paperback is a facsimile of the 1902 edition, which had been revised to include "Colonial Recipes". -- rear panel blurb the verso of the title page contains the current publication's data the binding is a sewn binding, ensuring that the book will last longer than the ordinary paperback. Condition: Good. No Edition Remarks. 1680 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth to spine with grey boards. Contains black and white and colour illustrations. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. Boards have noticeable edge wear with corner bumping and rubbing to surfaces. Grey cloth peeling to rear board.

There is no publication date, however there is a reference to a book published in 1948 on page 5, and the fact that the book mentions electrical appliances indicates that it was printed in the early 1950s. Previous owner has covered the book with clear adhesive plastic, there are tears in the cloth, age darkening of the pages, the webbing of the hinges is visible, and sundry other minor damages. Spine colour faded and Some patches of fading to front and back (see photo). 2 closed tears to cloth down left side of spine. Hinges cracked. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated Edition. Lovely copy of this " New Edition " circa 1900. nd. 1995pp plus adverts. Book in quarter leather with light green boards and gilt decorations/ title to spine has wear to extremities and marks/ rubbing all round. Spine is slightly bowed. End papers have some marks/stains. At some point something has been pinned to the preliminary pages leaving pin holes to them, no real damage but visible. All coloured illustrations are present and are in superb condition. The list of other illustrations cover 3 pages. A lovely addition to you kitchen.

Contents clean, tight and bright. Although I have described it as fair, it looks better than it sounds, and it's probably good for a 109 year old book. Book.

Complete with the rare dustjacket, which has a little wear to the edge of the spine. 16 colour plates and nearly 350 b + w llustrations. Some of the illustrations are from earlier editions, but some, such as the modern bedroom and bathroom and the cooker and refridgerator have been updated for this edition. Spots of foxing to the foredge, otherwsie internally clean. Sections on Household Work, Etiquette. Table Decoration, the Home Lawyer, Household Hints, the Art of Using Up, etc as well as very many cookery recipes.
