The four tell-tales of an ex-library history found here are 1) a carefully placed "Wiltshire Library & Museum Service / Withdrawn" stamping to bottom of title page; 2) a hand-inked crosshatch (octothorpe) to top of copyright page; 3) the numeral 0431 stamped to bottom of final page of text, and 4) the book is in handsome but plain (untitled) green boards, possibly imitation leather, likely a library binding. "Very good" original jacket -- now in removable protector -- shows some small stress cracks along each side of spine, and some fraying to top of rear flap. Beautifully bound in full black leather, with raised bands on the spine and all page edges gilt. Front endpage is adorned with a silhouette image of a First Infantry tunnel rat, along with the slogan, "Non gratum anus rodentum". Very Good condition. Book would be Fine but for a mild vertical crease that begins on the half-title page, and continues much diminished on a few subsequent pages. The book is protected in a semi-transparent sleeve, which has a crease at the bottom corner of the front flap. Housed in a matching black leather slipcase. Signed by Author(s).
