Condition: Very Good. Smaller photo is 4x6 and lists members of quartet. Contains legend reading, From the Collection of Eugene Rousseau." Larger photo, 7x9 and is signed by all four members of the quartet (George Charron, Marcel Mule, Marcel Josse, and Georges Chauvet) next to their respective likenesses. Three signatures in blue ink, Chauvets signature in black. Logo at lower right corner of photo reads, Henri Selmer Paris Instruments Musique." The Paris Saxophone Quartet was a pioneering group, founded by Marcel Mule in 1928. Mule was the second Professor of saxophone at the Paris Conservatoire after the inventor of the instrument, Adolphe Sax himself. Their influence was so great that many of the compositions now considered part of the standard repertoire were originally composed for this quartet. Chauvet was an original member of the quartet, while Charron and Josse joined later in the groups run. An uncommon item, featuring the signatures of four notable saxophonists just after the second World War. Signed by Author(s). Book.
