The simple and well known recipes have no contributor noted but all the special recipes have the name of the contributor (And sometimes the address). If you need a recipe for 'Yubbruck' this is the book for you. I was intrigued by the 'Skillet Cake' recipe made in a cast iron skillet and including pineapple as an ingredient. Book is loaded with local advertising. A previous owner has pasted recipes here and there in the book, mostly over ads. There are also written recipes here and there. Laid-in are a group of recipes and related items. A very much loved and much used cook book with cracked hinges; covers wear; soiling; etc. Scarce. FAIR.

Tipped in at front black is a poem on bifold parchment "On the Building of Springfield" undated but with printer's bug on the bottom of the cover. This too is signed with the author's full name. Glue transfer on endpapers and newsprint transfers on half title page and pp. 264-265. The jacket front panel is of the same design as the book. Triangular loss of 1/2" on lower front right corner. Loss across edges at head and tail of jacket spine up to 3/8". Significant loss on plain back panel, carrying over to back fore-edge fold - see photos. Closed tears along fore-edge folds. Small chips and closed tears along upper and lower edges on front and back panels. See photos for best inspection.
