Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First editions. Two volumes. Thick octavos. 591; 473pp. Illustrated, mostly with portraits. *Volume I: The arts, media, business, law, sports* is fine in very good or better dust jacket with some soiling, and a few small, neat tape repairs; *Volume II: Civil rights, politics and government, education, medicine, sciences* is fine in very good dust jacket with a small chip and stain at the foot. Massive and detailed study. Widely held in libraries (one is tempted to surmise that virtually all the copies went to libraries), but exceptionally uncommon in the trade. The author was a noted Black academic.
