A catalog to a 1978 exhibition of the art of Dorothy Hood at the McNay Art Institute, preceded by a short critical introduction and followed by a chronology of her life/career. Dorothy Hood was an American Modernist painter, linking several movements throughout her career, including the American Color Field School and Mexican synthetic Surrealism. She also drew from Southwestern mythology and Eastern mystical teachings, with her work gaining popularity in the 1970s. GOOD+ condition.
