Signed by the author (ffep), the private secretary to President Roosevelt and inscribed to Emma and Stuart Long in 1955. Emma Long was active in liberal politics and was the first female elected to the Austin, Texas Cilty Council in 1948. Stuart Long established Long's News Service after WW II, the state capitol's largest press bureau, supplying coverage to 26 Texas newspapers as well as the New York Times and Newsweek. "A" and colophon on copyright page indicates a First Edition. Dark-blue boards with gold-color lettering, xiii, 391 pp. (last 2 leaves uncut), unclipped jacket illustrated with a photo of Tully and Roosevelt on the front panel. Light wear at ends of spine and minor bump on bottom edge of rear board, text is slightly age toned otherwise unmarked, tight binding. Jacket is edge worn with small chip at bottom of spine.
