About this Item: New American Library: Signet Books, New York, NY, 1963. Mass Market Paperback. First Ed thus; First Printing stated.. First Ed thus; First Printing stated. Very Good- in Wraps: shows indications of careful use: spine leans a bit; light wear to extremities; very mild rubbing to the wrapper covers; former owner's name and address inside the front cover; the pages have tanned somewhat, due to aging; there is a little blanching to the tinted outside top and fore-edges due to exposure to moisture and the tinting has invaded the text pageds perhaps 1/64" at most along the top edge, the pages have a certain 'crinkly' quality at the upper portion, but no other indications of moisture damage; binding secure; text clean. No longer 'As New', but remains clean, sturdy, and quite presentable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 12mo. 242pp. Edward Franklin Albee III (born March 12, 1928) is an American playwright who is known for works such as The Zoo Story (1958), The Sandbox (1959), Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1962), and a rewrite of the book for the unsuccessful musical Breakfast at Tiffany's, an adaptation of Truman Capote's 1966 book of the same name. His works are considered well-crafted, often unsympathetic examinations of the modern condition. His early works reflect a mastery and Americanization of the Theatre of the Absurd that found its peak in works by European playwrights such as Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco, and Jean Genet. Younger American playwrights, such as Paula Vogel, credit Albee's daring mix of theatricality and biting dialogue with helping to reinvent the post-war American theatre in the early 1960s. Albee continues to experiment in works, such as The Goat: or, Who Is Sylvia? (2002). Seller Inventory # 41589
