This volume (9 ½ x 6 ¾ inches) actually contains three books within it: "The Women of England," "The Daughters of England" and "The Wives of England." The writer, Sarah Stickney Ellis (who uses the byline "Mrs. Ellis"), examines every aspect of roles of these women and offers intimate advice. A fascinating treatment. Brown cloth, embossed with gilt decorations on front, with a fully gilt-decorated spine. Spine and covers are in Very Good condition, though they have normal bumps and rubs. Prev/owner’s name lightly in pencil on inside fly. Binding is tight. Book has been professionally cleaned and gilt lettering is sharp and bright. Mild to moderate foxing throughout.
