Brown cloth hardcover with gilt and black lined borders and gilt lettered title on the front cover. Gilt title on the spine. Blind stamped rear cover. Light edge wear to cloth extremities. Inscription written in pen on the blank verso of the frontispiece engraving - "Mrs. Gough B. Grant. Davenport, IA". Contains The Conquered Banner, a cry for preserving the dignity of the fallen flag (and of the efforts) of the Southern Confederacy by ceasing to fly it (in then unimagined political causes).
