About this Item: Vintage Books, New York, 1989. Soft Cover. Condition: Very Good. Steadman, Ralph (Illustration) (illustrator). First Edition. First Vintage Books Edition, July 1989. Signed and inscribed by the inimitable Hunter S. Thompson at illustrated front endpaper: "To Sean, next time bring HST". Very attractive. Interestingly, signed over classic Ralph Steadman illustration of a creeping Hunter, suitcase in hand, dragging on a targard filtered Dunhill. Hunter was born and raised in Louisville where original recipient attended the University of Louisville in the early 2000's. Collector knew several people who had HST signed items and had a friend whose parents personally knew Hunter and this book was gifted from this friend. Orange pictorial wraps, dynamic titles, moderate corner wear, crease. Cover design and art by Susan Mitchell and Ralph Steadman. Pages near fine. Bind fine. This is Hunter Thompson's notoriously rousing adventure into the pit of all that is the extreme of American consumption, vice and gaudiness. A roman à clef rooted in autobiographical incidents, the story follows its protagonist, Raoul Duke, and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo, as they descend on Las Vegas to chase the American Dream through a drug-induced haze. The tale first appeared as a two-part series in Rolling Stone magazine in 1971 and was first published as a book in 1972. In 1998 it was adapted into the motion picture starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro. Maniacally illustrated throughout by Ralph Steadman, confidante and friend to Hunter. 204 pages and a Note About the Author. Insured post. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed by Author. Book. About this Item: (n.p.), (n.p.), 2006. No Binding. No Jacket. An "artist's proof" for a limited edition print of the iconic artwork used on the dust jacket of Hunter Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Inscribed by Steadman in 2006. Note that Steadman drew this scene with the driver on the British side: Random House had to reverse the art for publication. Approximately 28" x 20". A handful of Steadman-esque stains, thus near fine; attractively matted and framed. We believe the edition was intended to be 100, although it appears to be more scarce than that figure would suggest. Seller Inventory # 033230

Signed with a spectacular full page drawing by Ralph Steadman of Hunter Thompson as ¿The Good Doctor¿. Thompson was an American journalist and author, and the founder of the gonzo journalism movement, a style of writing that blurs distinctions between fiction and nonfiction. The book is in beautiful condition, internally appearing crisp and unread. The book has grey paper boards with black quarter cloth. with bright unfaded silver titles to the spine. The end papers are clean with no owner names, no inscriptions, and no book plates. The stunning, boldly signed Steadman art is rendered in red ink in the classic Steadman spot style, and located on the first blank page of the book. The internal pages are clean, bright and flat with No marks, No writing, No stains, No smudges, No bent pages and No foxing. Beautiful clean, crisp book internally appearing as unread. Please see detailed images. The original dust jacket is in near fine condition with very slight nicking to the spine tips and touch of creasing to the front inner flap. Otherwise the jacket has strong vibrant colors with no edgewear, no rips, no chips, no tears, no rubbing, no fading and no foxing. The jacket is NOT price clipped and has a stated price of $5.95. The jacket is now protected in a new clear removable archival cover. Please see detailed images. A stunning one-of-a-kind example of this scarce title!. Signed by Illustrator(s). About this Item: Random House, New York, 1971. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Ralph Steadman (illustrator). First Edition. I could go on and on about Hunter, this book, and the impact each has left on our society. In life, Hunter S Thompson was a force o be reckoned with, and this books is a great example of the powers he wielded. Ralph Steadman has signed book on the title page. Additionally, included with this volume is a bookplate signed by both Hunter S. Thompson AND Johnny Depp. The HST signature is starting to fade, but still fully visible (I have another HST signed bookplate with a vibrant signature, and can include after discussing pricing). Signed by the author, illustrator, and main actor in the movie, this is a one of a kind copy! The book shows moderate shelfwear (no fraying), and bumping at the spine ends. There is sunning to the top/bottom edges of the front & rear boards. The binding is slightly cocked, but still firm. Minor spotting to the page edges, and a few spots to the first few pages (see images). The dust jacket is rubbed, with light sunning to the spine, and overall faint hint of yellowing. However, it is NOT price-clipped, and still free of chips rips & tears, covered with a brodart. All things considered, this is still a very nice copy. I'm just clear in noting the flaws to the book. Preserved in an acid-free archival bag. IMO, gift or collection quality. Signed By All. Seller Inventory # 000324
