About this Item: GRIN Verlag, Germany, 2011. Paperback. Condition: New. 1. Auflage.. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2002 in the subject Theology - Miscellaneous, grade: cum laude, Pazmany Peter Catholic University and American National College (Regnum-M educational Co. / Kirchenrecht), language: English, abstract: Many would consider Codex Iuris Canonici to be the best choice of triggering out a new, acceptable, modern legislation in the Catholic Church1, the origin source of maintaining the unique spells of Christ, of which faithful had to be given an up-to-date book of church disciplinae. However, in many fields the duties and rights are somehow violated, even do obstacles lie in front of them. The intent purpose of this essay, therefore, is to deal with obstacles lying before the acceptable fulfillment of duties of the christian believers in the field of catholic education. When our dealing with the topic of catholic education, canons 793-821 are put into view. We would not, however, state that all duties are violated, and that the purpose of the editors of the code has not reached its aims. Our wish is to highlight those fields in the civil legislations where, practically proved, there are some significant obstacles preventing the faithful from giving the most proper education to their offspring. Thus, we cannot apart from drawing the historical as well as legal backgrounds to make out obvious and provable evidences. (c) Talaber Janos doktori ertekezes, Doctoral Essay: ABSTRACT (c). Description of the estate and abbey of: COCHRANE, Archibald, Earl

About this Item: Edinburgh printed at Edinburgh, 1793. 8vo., 75 + (1)pp., with the near-contemporary scoring through of the words 'and abbey' on title-page and on A2 (see further note below), recent marbled boards lettered on spine. A very good copy. First edition. The Kress copy (B 2484) is of the later issue - with the phrase 'and Abbey' removed. The inclusion of the reference to Culross Abbey was evidently a mistake: virtually the whole of the text is devoted to a detailed account of the Culross coal mines. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Culross (in Fife, Scotland) was a centre of the coal mining industry. In 1575, Sir George Bruce of Carnock established at Culross the first coal mine in the world to extend under the sea. The mine used ingenious contrivances to drain the constant leakage of sea water from above. The mine was considered one of the marvels of the British Isles in the early 17th century until it was destroyed in a storm in 1625. The Earl of Dundonald (1748-1831), the owner of the Culross estates in the late 18th century, was a highly inventive chemical manufacturer already with several patents to his name. (His first patent, dated April 1781, was for extracting, tar, pitch, essential-oils, volatile-alkali, mineral-acids, salts and cinders, from pit-coal). By 1793, he had become financially embarrassed and evidently put his mining interests in the market, the present publication being a detailed sales prospectus. 'As the estate, forest, coal, and mineral-property, will, in a few months be brought to sale, this short description of it is given to those who may wish to become purchasers'. Although it seems that no purchaser was found, Cochrane's description of the coal and mineral resources on his estate provide an extraordinarily detailed portrait of these pioneering developments in commercial derivatives extracted from coal.
