Wilson Literary Science Writing Award; his next book, The Songs of Trees, won the John Burroughs Medal for natural history writing. Here Haskell, a biologist, reveals the secret world hidden in a single square meter of old-growth forest in Tennessee, returning to it across the seasons. Fine except for some light bumping to its top and bottom of spine, and two dogeared pages in the book's middle. Jacket is very near fine because of some light creasing to spine ends.
