Zahlreiche (wohl 58) teils ganzseitige in Rötelton gedruckte Originallithographien. "Dieses Werk wurde im Auftrage des Drei Masken Verlages in München als 8.Obelisk-Druck in der Offizin der Mandruck A.-G. München hergestellt. Die neue Übertragung für dieses Ausgabe besorgte Max Pulver. Die Lithographien von Werner Schmidt entstanden im Jahre 1922 und wurden unter der Aufsicht des Künstlers auf der Handpresse gedruckt. Die einmalige Auflage beträgt 340 Exemplare, von denen 320 in den Handel gelangen und zwar 70 Exemplare numeriert I - LXX, 250 numeriert 1 - 250. Dieses Exemplar trägt die Nummer 82." (aus dem Impressum). Darunter von Schmidt mit Bleistift signiert. Der Rücken etwas ausgeblichen, am unteren Gelenk ca 0,5cm aufgeplatzt; die Kanten minimal beschabt bzw bestossen. Raabe 238.28. Errori di numerazione ai quinterni F-G numerati 49-63 (anzichè 41-55),con la carta G8 numerata giustamente 56 e alla c. 97. Sottolineature e richiami ai margini. Marca tipografica con ancora e delfino e la scritta Aldi Filii entro cornice figurata costituita da due cornucopie alla base che sorreggono un globo sul quale due puttini alati reggono un animale caudato ed alato, le cui teste si intrecciano formando un mascherone che sostiene l'ancora. Ripetuta in fine. FORTUNIO: cc. (4) – 41 (i.e. 47). Privo dell'ultima carta bianca. Marca tipografica con l'ancora fra le lettere AL DUS. Sperone Speroni nacque a Padova nel 1588 e appena terminati gli studi venne incaricato dell'insegnamento di logica a Padova (1520) che lasciò solo dopo appena tre anni pochi anni per tornare a studiare filosofia a Bologna con il Pomponazzi e quindi ritornare a Padova dove per altri tre anni dal 1525 al 1528 insegnò filosofia. Divenuto principe dell'Accademia degli Infiammati nel 1542, impose il solo uso del volgare. In quello stesso anno videro la luce i Dialoghi, per cura dlel'amico Daniele Barbaro senza che lo Speroni lo sapesse, che li dedica a Ferdinando Sanseverino, Principe di Salerno. Si tratta del Dialogo d'Amore, della dignità delle donne, del tempo del partorire delle donne, Della cura famigliare, Della usura, Della discordia (in cui gli interlocutori sono la Discordia, Giove e Mercurio), Delle lingue (in cui torna sull'uso del volgare), Della retorica, Delle laudi del Cathaio (che si svolge nella villa di Pia degli Obici), Panico et Bichi. L'opera ebbe numerose ristampe.Fu amico del Tasso di cui rivide la Gerusalemmme liberata e di Annibal Caro che conobbe a Roma. Nel 1578 pubblicò un'Apologia dei Dialoghi. Morì a Padova nel 1588. Giovanni Francesco Fortunio, autore della seconda opera, nacque Pordenone (o a Zara in Istria) fra il 1460 ed il 1470: quello che è certo è che la sua cultura si deve all'area dell'entroterra veneto più vicina all'area dalmata. Assai scarse sono le notizie sulla sua vita, fu amico e allievo di Marco Antonio Sabellico che così lo indica nelle sue lettere e fu giurista, come egli stesso scrive nel proemio dell'opera scrivendo: "Soleva io nella mia verde etade, sincerissimi lettori miei, quando d'otioso tempo dall'esercitio mio delle civili leggi mi veniva concesso, tanto nella lettura delle volgari cose di Dante, del Petrarca et del Boccaccio dilettevolmente ispendere"; fu giudice a Trieste nel 1497 e qui dopo altri incarichi quindi prese la cittadinanza. Dopo altri incarichi nella città, durante la guerra di Massimiliano d'Asburgo contro Venezia, dovette allontanarsi come conferma la moglie in un documento, mentre viene nomino nel 1516 luogotenente della città di Ancona. Nello stesso anno esce la prima edizione delle sue Regole grammaticali, in soli due libri, uno dedicato alla morfologia e l'altro all'ortografia anziché nei cinque previsti nel proemio.
