About this Item: Chelsea: The Swan Press, 1927., 1927. [vii] and 15 pp. 8vo, patterned cream paper-covered boards printed in light orange (swans in circles interspersed with floral motif; printed paper label on spine. With the bookplate of the late Franklin Gilliam on the front pastedown. Somewhat foxed. ONE OF 250 NUMBERED COPIES. INSCRIBED on the front free endpaper "For dear Barbara with Philip's love 12.iii.27".Laid in on the Arts Club letterhead is a short ALs: "My dear Barbara | Here is our little book. Please accept it.It isn't really a book at all: but it has been fun doing it. | Love from Philip".A complilation of collective nouns drawn from **The Book of St. Albans ** and Strutt's **Sports & Pastimes**.The illustrations are charming little vignettes illustrating some of the nouns. Before the half-title is a stub, which seems to reflect a cancel, but in comparing this copy with another, out of series copy in a different colored patterned boards, there is no difference in the number of leaves, and the other copy is glued in the gutter at this point, obscuring any stub, if indeed it is present.
