Ammon Stapleton (author of MEMORIALS OF THE HUGUENOTS IN AMERICA, With Special Reference to their Emigration to Pennsylvania, etc.). Contains the original receipt from Julius F. Sachse to Rev. Ammon Stapleton, Carlisle, PA for $5.00, and a notice that Vol II is "Now In Press". Stapleton bookplate present. A personal note from Stapleton dated Oct 20, 1899 which states "On Oct 20th 1899 I joined the Penna German Society at Ephrata Pa where I formed a very pleasant acquaintance with the learned Author of this work, A.S." The front and rear paper hinges have been repaired. Page top edges are gilt and the other edges are rough cut and show some age toning. Many plates, sketches, illustrations, fancy font examples, etc. 506 pages. The boards have somewhat faded gilt, show soiling and the spine and rear cloth shows some wrinkling. Signed by Author(s).
