Ivory wraps picture a scene in color from the stage. Spine chipped at both ends, front hinge split at bottom 30%. Front endpaper22626p is printed "A L.M. la Regina Alefsandra d'Inghilterra rispettoso omaggio de." followed by the printed facsimile signature Giacomo Puccini. The next flyleaf has a full-page b/w photo of Puccini with a facsimile signature on lower margin. At bottom of t.p. is a stamp from C.W. Thompson & Co., Boston, presumably a retailer. The opera follows, with a full piano score and lyrics in Italian, although cast list and preface are in English. Puccini wrote the opera after seeing an American stage play about gold miners in the west. Although the first public performance is recorded as 1913 in Vienna, this copy is clearly copyrighted 1910 on both front cover and title page. We could not locate another copy in English (lyrics excepted). Seller Inventory # 10257
